A blush of new hope

Hey, you guys!

I hope everybody is doing great!

As of myself, I am doing really good and best part of my life - I am counting down to return to KL. Yay to trips to shopping malls because I need to re-purchase quite a number of stuffs since you know... my stuffs have long been gone.

Even though I've been wanting to get some stuffs really badly, I am fully aware that in Malaysia, some of the cosmetics that I used to possess are not easily available. Hence, I resorted to join sprees and pre-orders because there are several items I wanna get since a year or two ago.

I have been jumping up and down for the past few weeks because finally, my long awaited blush finally reached and yes, another thing in my wishlist is finally fulfilled! Yes, it's the Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush from Tarte Cosmetics!

Due to the expensive price, I don't think I can afford to buy 2 or 3 of these babies as of now. However, after trying it out, I am pretty certain if I have the budget, I will go back and get more of them because they are my HG blush now but well... I won't discuss about how this blush fares now because well... accident happens and when it happens, it just happens.

LOLX!

During shipping, somehow or rather, my long awaited blush was damaged!

D-A-M-A-G-E-D!!!

Imagine my horror when I opened up the parcel and lifted the protective sheet above the blush...

The broken blush got everywhere in the parcel and it was really bad. Seriously, I was a little angry because initially I was thinking on splurging to get two of the Amazonian Clay blushes and all of a sudden, I was thankful that I did not because one of my friend's blush was smashed as well! My friend was uber upset because her loss was more than me.

Hey, Airpak Malaysia, what did you guys do with our parcel?! Did you take it for a walk at the park with you?

I thought hard - there have to be a way to use this baby because at the price of USD$25 minus shipping, this baby is too expensive to let go. I love the packaging too, hence, Imma not gonna throw it away. I want the blush to remain in the packaging!

I went through several how-to's in Youtube and Google on how to repair a broken blush but in the end I resorted to none because most of the how-to's needed mixing alcohol and seriously, I don't know where to even get it in a small hometown like mine. It was bad already because I have had ZERO experience in repairing any broken eyeshadows or blushes or bronzers or anything at all. Most of my stuffs came to me in perfect conditions and never before, damaged.

What's more - with TM's sucky service at home, where I get disconnected like 10 or more times a day, I couldn't even find any solutions to repair the blush without mixing alcohol. I was devastated - imagine splurging on more than RM100 on ONE blush and it gets to you looking like my blush.

"When there is a will, there is a way."

Geddit, gedddddiiit?

I talked to stupid sister about it and she suggested using a heavy object to weigh down the powder so that they will stick together. In the first place, I was skeptical because I thought to myself, "Duh, she's bragging again and it's not gonna work because the damage was really, really bad!"

In the end, I proved myself guilty of doubting my stupid sister.

I know, my sister and I might not be the first ones to do this but still, I'm gonna share my experience of repairing a blush with you all so that, it'll become a blush of new hope!

Honestly, it is as easy as ABC and well... just follow the steps in the pictures below!

**Please take note - we are not claiming that we are professionals in repairing stuffs like these nor did we claim that every blush, bronzer or eyeshadow can be repaired this way. You'll have to find out on your own.

Oh, please put your broken blush on top of a piece of old newspaper or something so that your life will be easier when you wanna clean up the fall outs.

Step #1 - Find an object that can fit into the blush!

Do make sure that the object has certain weight so that it can weigh down the powder and make them stick together, else, you'll need to press it down real haaaard and looooong.

Oh, boy, I made it sound so wrong! LOLX!

Step #2 - Layer a piece of tissue on top of the blush!

Do not remove the protective layer that comes together with the blush. Just layer your tissue on top of it and put back the object of your choice. The reason for this step is to keep the fall outs minimal so that cleaning up will not be a hassle.

Once you are ready, let's move on!

Step #3 - Press, press, press!!!

I believe that the force used to press down the object can somehow can the broken powder blush stick together. Just because of so, I used more strength and kept pressing it down for a good 3 to 5 minutes so that the broken pieces may just come together.

If you have extra energy, why not make it a good 10 minutes? Hahaha... Stupid sister suggested me to just more heavy objects and leave the blush there for a day but I didn't want to.

Step #4 - First round of checking!

After 5 minutes or so, life the object, tissue and protective layer up from the bush and check if the powder has been repaired.

I was happy to see how the result turned out. Still, I wasn't quite satisfied so, I kept pressing down again for another few more minutes.

Step #5 - Cleaning up!

Get your cotton buds swabs, balls, pads or whatever ready for cleaning up! I brushed off the fall outs at the side of the pan with my eyeshadow brush and then, proceeded to wipe away the fall outs using a few cotton buds that have been soaked in my toner.

Cleaning up get a little messy due to the fall outs but it wasn't a hard core or anything. Remember? Before Step #1, I did mention to place your broken blush on a piece of old newspaper?

You can thank me now. LOLX!

Step #6 - Voila!

After pressing and cleaning up, the broken blush is finally in good condition!

I tried using it with my blush brush and thank God it doesn't come apart!

Step #7 - Tried and tested!

Lift the repaired blush and turn it upside down - see... no fall outs!

I was happy again!

Remember I told you about how worried I was because this blush was super expensive? Though it may not look pretty but it doesn't matter, at least I still get to use it!

Have you ever tried repairing any broken blush, foundation, eyeshadow or bronzer before? Do share your experience!

Day and night

I don't know about you but well... I am not someone who appreciates light makeup. The whole point of makeup is to beautify yourself and if light makeup can do it, I bet all the girls in the world can look effortlessly beautiful but hell no!

There is no ugly girls but only lazy ones, remember that!

Hence, don't complain if you're ugly or yada, yada, yada. If you feel ugly, go stock up your cosmetics and learn to makeup, that's all you need to do.

Anyhoots... here's a look that I will wear for my day out and maybe if you're a little adventurous, you can build up on the intensity for a night out look.

So... these are basically the stuffs that you may need. Oh, by the way, I am creating a silver brown look. Okay, at least you have in mind what to expect so that I won't freak you out. Hahaha.

As much as I dislike Skin79 The Oriental BB Cream Plus, I still have to finish the product so that my RM80 doesn't go into the garbage bin. So, I've decided to use it. One of my favourite concealer wand is Maybelline Angel Fit because I've found the perfect shade in drugstore concealer that matches me perfectly! The application of both products, like always, I love using a sponge to dab them on.

The end product, like always that idiotic BB Cream gives me white cast that'll scare the hell outta you - I kid you not!

Well, it'll only turn into a shade that matches your skin tone in maybe one hour later and that's freaking long, okay?! I hate waiting because an Aries like me is IMPATIENT and that's one of the reason why I will not repurchase this BB Cream.

Anyway, those are the face products. I skipped powder because my skin has been exceptionally dry that it's peeling off these days. So... yeah, no powder. For the eyes products, take a look at the picture below.

Apply your eyeshadow primer or such so that your eyeshadow will not crease midway during your date or anything. I hate it when my eyeshadow crease because normally stupid sister would say, "Hey, your eyeshadow creases ugly-ly."

The reason is simple, I guess I may appear to have double eyelids but in between these double eyelids, there are mini folds that are quite annoying but I can't complain much because everyone from the family has typical monolids whereas double eyelids are rare within the relatives.

I've basically written out the steps on the pictures and remember, don't drag the eyeshadows on your lids or else you're gonna end up looking so freaking messy! If there are fall outs while you're patting on your eyeshadows, use your brush to sweep, sweep, sweep away.

Basically, it's just like sweeping the floor.

LOLX!

Can't believe I'm such an eeeewww person!

Okay, after the application and everything, this is the look you'll get minus the false lashes. Hey, I did tell you my typical Asian eyelashes are almost invisible to your naked eyes, right?

Sienz max! ROFL!

Let's get back to the final step - I was using Milani Luminous because I was opting for a shimmery look. You can choose blush of any shade but remember DON'T APPLY IT GENEROUSLY because you'll end up looking like a whore instead of sexy. LOLX!

I always prefer to do my lips after styling my hair, I don't know why but sometimes, after applying lipstick or lipgloss, my hair always get stuck on my lips. Sticky situation, huh? I opted to curl my hair to deliver uummph!

See what I mean? Hahaha... straight hair is great but curly hair is glamourous for functions and it was our girls' night out so... ah, well... you must be all dolled up!

This is basically the completed eyes look.

After curling my hair, I opted for a intermediate red lipstick. I can't do striking red because I ain't fair and red will only emphasize on my dark skin tone. LOLX!

What?! You don't like red lips? Hahaha... I do but it was for a night out! Anyway, after a while, I finally came around because the red lipstick kept on staining my top. So, I replaced it with a nude lipstick instead to tone down the whole look.

Have fun trying, people and yeah, that was my version and remember, there is no right or wrong in applying makeup. Do what that's more comfortable to you and if you hate silver, exchange it with maybe blue or green or pink. If you hate brown, replace it with purple, dark blue or black to create smokey eyes.

So... before I end this entry... Here's a series of mandatory camwhoring pictures!

Cheers, people!

Sweet and romantic

I shall take a break from discussing about relationships and related stuffs for a bit because well... I just don't feel good talking about it and honestly, yes, you're so right, I still miss the ex-mister from time to time and the only way to make myself forget about him is to do something I love.

You know what I love, right?

So, today, I shall teach you how to achieve a sweet and yet romantic look - minus the lashes if you don't like them but I like them because I was going for a photoshoot at the time I did this look, hence, well... thicker and fuller lashes always make your eyes shine!

The hero of the day was...

Taa-daah... the infamous 88 eyeshadow palette that I supposed majority of you out there own one of it, right?

If you don't, I guess Manly 120 or 180 palette will work perfectly fine for this look too! Please don't quote me, I am no professional makeup person because I am yet another typical girl who loves dolling up and photoshoots, that's all.

I was going for a sweet and romantic cowgirl look the other day due to the windy and cloudy weather lately.

Before that, don't forget to apply your eyeshadow base and for the sake of this look, I tried to re-love my NYX HD Eyeshadow Base.

Well... I did say in my first entry that NYX HD Eyeshadow Base worked great but after using it for second, third, fourth, bla, bla, bla times... I think it didn't do any justice to me already due to my oily lids. Perhaps, when I first used it, I didn't put on my makeup for more than four hours, thus, I couldn't pinpoint if this eyeshadow base is a wonder or not but for the price of less than RM30 or USD$7, what can you complain if you were to compare this product to UDPP at a hefty USD$17 or more?

Enough say about it... Let's proceed to the look of the day as you'll see this look created!

Please refer to the first picture and you'll know what shade I am talking about if you're lost in the middle of the entry.

Here you go... that's the summary of all the colours that I've used. The secret to a balanced eyeshadow is as we all know, blend, blend, blend, blend.

Sad to say I'm yet a pro in blending yet because I spent like a good 15 minutes or so trying to get the tones that I've wanted.

Anyway, a picture to divert you from my lousy skills.

Gazillion of falsies for an UUMMPPPHH look in pictures! Hahahaha... I just got the lower lashes the other day, hence, I was gonna try out cute doll look. Pardon the ugly yellow top because those pictures were taken after the shoot. LOLX!

Here's another attempt of mine trying to look sexy.

It has been so long since I last wore my hair curly. Hehe... Loving it and well, still, I love more of my straight and sleek hair to go for permanent curl.

Afterwards, when I removed the falsies and also undone my hair, this was the effect.

I love my hair in the picture above. Waaah... I am contemplating if I should go to the salon or not because I ditched the idea of going to the salon since a month ago after my bangs.

My hair does feel long now and my sister was telling me to cut my hair since long hair is not very healthy. I know, I have split ends but then again, it took me 2 freaking years to grow my hair to this length, so, I do feel really sayang cutting it.

Anyway, before I end, here's a last mandatory camwhore picture to share with you... Well, I'm just giving you an imagination of what kinda look I went for that day.

Have a blessed week, stay healthy and happy and lotsa, lotsa love from yours truly.

Going-to-be-bride

Here comes the bride...

Oopsies... not yet...

Recently, I've been going mad on bridal make-up.

Me? Getting married?

Perhaps yes, perhaps no... let's just say I'll leave it to God to decide who my future partner would be because He alone knows who is the one for me.

Now, let's go for the Day Look first...

From as far as I know, Day Look shouldn't be at all heavy because you don't want to look like a vampire or anything on your special day. Well, I don't want to look like a ghost or pontianak for sure... So, go natural...

Since I'm going to wear a white dress, I guess there are a lot of look that I can actually go for but still... natural does it...

These are all from our cute Aubrey... Actually, there are several looks I wanna go for on that special day... Yes, I'm going to do my own make-up!

Day Look 1

Day Look 2

Day Look 3

Day Look 4

The looks are all so adorable that I don't know which one I should go for. Haha... I'm very indecisive. Now, some possible looks I'd for for during the day by Michelle...

Day Look 5

Day Look 6

I found this lady really attractive and I don't know her name because she always starts out with saying, "Hello, welcome to Pursebuzz.com." That's it but never mind. I super love her bridal eye make-up...

Day Look 7

For the night look, I'm still skeptical whether which look I should go for because you see, I'm not sure which dress I'm going to go for. Haha... Perhaps at the end of the day, you might even see me in a kebaya, who knows, right?

Night looks from Aubrey...

Night Look 1

OMG... I simply love, love, love and love this arabic eyes! The eyes just look so sexy and alluring especially when they're paired with grey coloured cosmetic lenses. Don't you think so?

Night Look 2

Fresh water look! Gawd... Sweet, sweet, sweet and sweet... Now, I wish I have like 8 pairs of eyes so that I can do every look!

Night Look 3

Aih... I'm feeling so freaking lazy to go and put all the videos here now... I only have like 15 minutes to finish this entry and then, going to take my shower before heading to class at 3p.m. later. Geez...

Night Look 4

Aubrey did the make-up using products from Nars and honestly, I do think products from Nars are really nice but at the same time, costly. Anyway... below is the last night look I opted for from Aubrey.

Night Look 5

Now, it's night looks from Michelle that totally inspire me...

Night Look 6

Night Look 7

Well, that would be all on the possible looks I'd go for on that day. I'm so looking forward to the wedding. Haha... That will be the day I'm going to meet all my besties.

I'll make sure I don't look like snow bunny when the day finally comes.

Oh, clarification - I'm NOT the one getting married. My bestie is and pictures will be up after the wedding.

Pictures credited to Aubrey.

Basic Smokey Eyes

You can actually achieve a lot of smokey eyes' looks using different colours and just not long ago, I was opting for purple smokey eyes but too bad I couldn't find the right colour combination, so, I just set the thought of creating that look aside and went for a very basic smokey eyes with grey, silver and black.

Since my dear Sherene mentioned that she likes the make-up tutorials I'm doing, Imma going to do more especially for her so that it'd be able to inspire her to make-up more. Now, don't get me wrong, Sherene, you're already pretty even without make-up. Haha...

Alright, alright, the first step is always to clean your face - use your cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Do whatever you want. Wait for few minutes before applying tone corrector, foundation and mineral powder.

The next step is to apply the basic grey undertone. I didn't want my eyes to look so freaking dramatic, so, I tonned down the colour.

Then, I applied a little silver eyeshadow to make it shimmery.

The last eyeshadow that came into contact during the make-over was black. Use your pencil brush, dab a little black eyeshadow, apply on your crease and then, take your blending brush and blend the rough edges away.

Finally, yes, your eyeliner. The thickness of your eyeliner is very much dependent on your preferance. I wanted it to be less dramatic, so, the line I drew was kinda thin. Apply your false lashes if you want your eyes to be seen especially at night.

Aih... I'm too lazy to blog more right now - sleepy and hungry.

I can't believe there's no food in the house. Imma gonna die of hunger...

Purple Sparkle

I've been missing in action since last Friday.

I know, I know but life has been pretty hectic over the weekend because I just had so much things to do like, planning my course structure, writing my lesson plan and also entertaining my sister like mad - yeah, that girl just has so many things to settle.

Since a friend of mine requested for more make-up tutorials, here goes nothing...

This look is called Purple Sparkle because I used silver, shimmery purple and a little pink pigment to create the look.

Lemme just show you the products I used to create the look - Bee, take note, take note!

If you can't see the picture clearly, lemme list down the items for you but if you're too lazy to read, just click on the picture for a larger version.

1. Revlon Color Stay Foundation in #310 Warm Golden.
2. Sweetscent Foundation in Sunkissed from Enpointe Pigments.
3. Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in #08 Frosty Silver.
4. Maybelline Volume Express in #02 Brown.
5. Red Earth Lipstick in #BE156 Rouge a Levres.
6. Red Earth Lip Gloss in #BR013 Brilliant.
7. Coastal Scent 88 Colour Palette.
8. Falsies.

Basically, those are the things I've used and you may replace them if you don't have them or just use anything that you like - yes, anything, no worries about the colour combination or stuffs, it'll turn out fine, trust me.

Now, it's time for more pictures...

I'm sorry if the pictures look hideous to you because I was just trying out the look and before I started, I thought to myself, "Why not just put this under tutorial?"

Anyway, two weeks ago, I went to Elianto with my sister and bought 3 new nail enamels in different shades and guess what, I love, love, love the matte purple!

The name of the matte purple is Thistle and it looks a little pinkish somehow but still, GORGEOUS!

Anyway, I'll update again on my life soon! I've things to do now.

Oh, oh... before that... lemme just talk a little regarding Maybelline's newest mascara in town - Volume Express Hypercurl Cat Eyes Waterproof Mascara.

Phew... that is indeed a long name for a mascara...

Anyway, I went to Watson the other day and this mascara seated sexily at the Maybelline's counter and I was so attracted to it's packaging and also colour. I tried it right on the spot and guess what?

Darn... I made a mess with the mascara. You can blame it on my lousy make-up skills but still, I wanna review on this mascara. I'll give it a rate of 3 upon 5 because honestly, I don't really like it as it is a little clumpy.

At the end of the day, my all time favourite mascara is still Loreal Telescopic Mascara, which is NOT clumpy at all and gives a real natural finish - OMG, this is totally the best mascara in town so far...

I got it for RM33.90 and I never regret buying it although I couldn't make up my mind if I should get it or not as I've got so tired of clumpy mascaras.

Review is 5 upon 5 for this mascara.

Anyway, I really gotta go. Bye!

Ribena Lemon

Gah... I want Ribena now - who can bring me Ribena, I'll marry you not if you're a guy and I'll treat you an Iced Tall Caramel Macchiato is you're a girl since I cannot marry you.

Anyway, whatever it is... this look is called Ribena Lemon. I don't know why I named it Ribena Lemon but the inspiration just came from there - I mean the colour combination. Whatever it is, I've summarized everything into ONE picture - oh, I love Picasa!

If you're wondering why I only did ONE of my eyes, I was trying out another look on my other eye and I kinda forgotten to take picture of the other eye. Sotong me...

Yes, I used my 88 colour palette because it is a very useful palette.

I recreated Michelle Phan's Hippie Princess look using the same palette as well. The colour is a little different and perhaps it could be due of my lousy blending. Err... could it be the super kua zhang false eyelashes? Whatever it is, it doesn't matter. We all learn from mistakes.

If you like the colour combination, check out Michelle's channel.

Anyway, need to sign off now - have a meet-up with friends in 2 hours' time at SS2. Update tonight - have a story to tell!

Sweet Mocha

Since I'm on the verge or fainting due to so many things to study, I might as well post up my very first tutorial before I really faint.

The colour palette I used was from Cyber Colors by Sasa. It's palette number 2 with the name Sweet Mocha, hence, this tutorial would be called Sweet Mocha since my blog is all about sweet desserts and I'm the sweetest person on Earth.

Before I start, lemme just show you how the RM65.90 palette looks like...

Yeah, I know, damn expensive but I got it for RM55.90 at that time because I was entitled for discount if any of us bought 3 items and above.

Anyway, let's just proceed with the steps, shall we?

First step is to use base colour and that's colour number 1 in the palette. Dush, brush and do whatever it takes to put the colour onto your eyelids following the shape of your eyeballs.

Second step is to apply colour number 2 onto the outer half of your lids. The colour might looks weird because blending but trust me, everything is going to be fine after blending!

Third step is to apply darker tone, colour number 4 onto the area just above colour 1 and 2. Use your blending brush, take colour number 3 and blend all the colours well. If colour number 4 is insufficient, apply another coat.

Since I like to put shimmer on my tear ducts, I applied shimmer from Cosway, RM4.90 - cheap, I know, you don't need to remind me.

Finish up your look with eyeliner and mascara. If you prefer false lashes like I do, remember to curl your lashes before you put on the false lashes.

The end product should look something like this...

I know, my complexion sucks, yes, it sucks because I didn't apply concealer or foundation or blusher or anything. Who cares, right?

With this, I end my tutorial here, have fun trying!
