Overnight oatmeal is simply addictive!

The past two weeks had been a living hell - I was so sick that whenever I stood up or wanted to do anything at all, I got headache! This headache of mine was basically caused by the pressure in my blocked right ear - blame it on the flu. It was bad enough when one side of your ears is blocked and on top of that, the pressure and headache made it unbearable. I ended up seeing two different doctors because antibiotics weren't prescribed to me by the first doctor and the medication he gave me wasn't strong enough to counter the flu I was having. The second consultation was with a specialist and on the third day onward, I felt so much better.

Anyway, I haven't been dieting or exercising much for the past few weeks because I got headache whenever I stood up. Everyone was telling me to start eating rice and noodles because I wasn't really recovering with less nutrition.

They won.

I ate.

A lot of food.

At least that is what I think.

One of the nutritious beverage that I have been making these days would be overnight oatmeal. I bet you have heard about this overnight oatmeal sensation from your Facebook or Youtube. I have gotten hooked after the first try!

Basically, what you need are items like what you are seeing in the picture below.

Chia seeds, oatmeal, milk and yogurt - as easy as that :)

For your information, you are encouraged to used rolled oats but since I don't really like rolled oats, I replace them with instant oats. Personally, I think they taste the same.

In the original recipe, you're also told to use greek yogurt but nah, I don't want to spend extra because greek yogurt is so much more expensive than the normal yogurt. It's only the consistency is different. Greek yogurt is thicker, that's it.

If you want your overnight oatmeal to be sweet, you may add honey, brown sugar or anything that you like but I like the way it is. I am going to share my recipe with you all.

First and foremost, prepare your oatmeal - around four tablespoons for two servings.

You may add on the quantity of the oatmeal according to your appetite but my advice is not to overdo it else you may end up throwing them away since not everyone may like it. Try it out for the first time and then, you may decide whether you love or hate it.

Secondly, add in your chia seeds.

I added 2 tablespoons of chia seeds for two servings.

Honestly, if you want more chia seeds, you may go ahead as well. Chia seeds will absorb all the liquid and they would bloat up, giving you a pudding-like texture.

Again, don't overdo it.

Thirdly, add in the plain yogurt.

I'm not really sure whether you can use flavoured yogurts but well, there's no harm trying, right?

My measurement is two tablespoons for two servings.

Fourthly, add in the milk.

In this case, you can actually use almond milk, rice milk, fresh milk, low fat milk or whatever milk you can find.

I usually mix the dry ingredients with 2 cups of milk.

Last but not least, shake your bum, bum!

Best time to exercise, aye?

Shake it up and place it in the fridge overnight.

The next morning, you can take it out of the fridge - enjoy it cold or if you're sick, like me, warm it up in the microwave for a minute or so.

Cut up some of your favourite fruits and voila - overnight oatmeal is ready!

I hope you will be trying out overnight oatmeal because yes, they are addictive and honestly, that is usually my breakfast. It gives me enough energy in the morning whether I am working out or not.

Home-made goodness in every cup :)

Hello, everybody!

I'm back with another recipe today - hot white chocolate beverage.

Just in time for Christmas!

In a small town like this, the only thing that keeps my sanity is cooking or food preparation.

Last month, stupid sister and I actually craved for hot chocolate but we couldn't find any available in our town so, we opted to make this beverage at home.

Instead of the normal dark chocolate, we went for white chocolate for a twist.

Below are the ingredients.

First step - you need milk!

I love it has been said in a lot of recipes that full-cream milk would be the best option but seriously, both of us did not feel like wanting to go on the heavier side hence, we opted for low-fat milk.

Amount of milk needed - 250ml for one serving.

Pour the milk into a pot or something and turn on the fire.

To the slowly boiling milk, add in a tablespoon of heavy cream.

Since I was unable to get heavy cream in this small town, I went for whipping cream instead.

I am not quite sure how much chocolate chips you need but since stupid sister and I don't really fancy overly sweet beverages, we used only 100g of white chocolate chips.

Let the chocolate chips melt into adding in one tablespoon of vanilla flavour.

Then, wait for your beverage to boil before serving it.

However, you need to constantly stir it to avoid those chocolate chips from getting burnt at the bottom of the pot.

There you go!

A nice cuppa hot white chocolate beverage!

There is rainbow in my cupcakes!

Hi, everyone!

*waves*

Yes, I'm pretty much alive after being absence for exactly one month. During my absence, I actually have been experimenting with different cake recipes - just because I was too free.

One of the cakes that I totally adore - Betty Crocker Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake.

Instead of baking it in a whole big one, I made cupcakes out of the mix! It was so, so simple for lazy bum like me. You practically just need to prepare eggs, water and cooking oil. Then, mix everything with a electric mixer.

Once the batter is ready, prepare the cups to pour the batter into. I chose medium-sized cups

Then, I popped those babies into the oven at 150 degree Celsius and bake for about 30 to 45 minutes.

They came out looking lovely!

When cut into half, I couldn't help but kept on looking at the beauty of the rainbow chips in the cake.

Best of all, the cake tastes awesome!

If you ever get your hands on Betty Crocker's products, do try them out!

Kiss my blues away

I found a temporary cure that would kiss your blues away - not permanently but at least kissing your blues away for a while is better than nothing - Fruit Lassi. Don't you know sweet stuffs like chocolates can contribute additional inches to your waistline?

Aiks... I should have known this little fact myself but for the previous few days, I've been chomping down on chocolates my brother's friend bought from overseas. Darn... Now, there goes my diet!

Whatever... At last I found joy within homemade fruit lassi that will not cost a bomb but it always will cost you a bomb if you order these drinks outside.
Well, I've made Papaya Lassi yesterday and this morning, I had Mango Lassi. You can choose any other fruits or just mix the fruits together. I've few suggestions on what fruits to mix by the way.

1. Banana + Strawberry
2. Banana + Mango
3. Orange + Lime
4. Orange + Papaya
5. Pineapple + Apples
6. Green Apples + Red Apples
7. Papaya + Apples
8. Papaya + Banana

If you'd love a tinge of difference, try adding tomatoes or cucumbers into your lassi. It'd be more than just cooling that way. Personally, I love anything with papaya and apples but since I'm not a fruity, fruity person - let's just go straight to the point.
Ingredients
Fruits or vegetables - amount depends on your likings.
2 tbsp of low-fat natural yogurt - RM5.35 for 450gm.

1 tbsp of honey - depends if you have sweet tooth or not.

Method - Just put everything into your blender and blend away - remember adding ice cubes to make it tastes better.
Taa-daah, this was the end product of Papaya Lassi... I know it looks gross in picture but believe me, it tasted better than how it looked like then...

And by the way, yeah, I forgot to blend my ice cubes together with the drink so, that explains the three floating stuffs in the glass, alright?

Next up... This is something I've wanted for so damn long. I thought they're gonna come in pink but too bad they only have blue and white... Since I'm not a blue person although I'm feeling blue now, I chose a white one instead.

Lemme show you the process of officializing this thing! The picture below shows yours truly, trying to rip open my star product!

I know, I have swollen eyes - the picture was taken right after a good cry. Check out my expression - damn kesian and swollen. I also kesiankan myself when I saw the picture last night. Why would I take picture of me being in such a stupid state?

Alright, that's another story!
Yay, I've finally bought this convenient box from Ikea for RM19.90 and damn cheap, okay? I've been eyeing on this box ever since Alice told me about it 2 years ago or so.

Darn... I was on a really tight budget and didn't want to spend much but now, I'm so much in need to organize my piling make-up products! You'll scare yourself out of your skin if you are to see how messy my make-up products look like before having this convenient box! I kinda dumped everything in a pink bag and I always had hard time trying to locate things inside the box! Thank you, Ikea, for such a wonderful creation!

I can even put my make-up brushes into the box, that's one of the happiest buy! From now on, I don't need to turn the room upside down to find my brushes because the brushes are put together with the other make-up products!

That means, bye-bye pinkie bag... You've served me well and now, it's time to put you to rest! Rest in peace, my dearly beloved pink bag...

Anyway, I'll just let you see the organization of my make-up products in the convenient box. Even though it isn't BIG enough to occupy all the make-up products, at least three quarter of my make-up products are placed inside the box already. Well, for another one quarter, I figure out I should go and get another one.

From left to right, starting from brushes section...

Section 1 - Brushes, brushes and more brushes.
Section 2 - False lashes and adhesive lashes glue.
Section 3 - Lip glosses, lipsticks and mascaras.
Section 4 - Foundation and eyeshadows.
Section 5 - Pigments and blusher.
I'm having headache trying to figure out how to store my 88 colour palette and also eyeshadows from Britney Spears with few more liquid foundations. Headache, headache...
Alright, lemme show you something meaningful for now...

I was surfing the net a while ago and came across this picture with caption. It somewhat touches my broken-heart and all of a sudden, I wish I own a doggie. Perhaps, it could cheer me up at time like this...

Lulu is looking for her friend, a man named Ed who had recently passed away. She returned to his door looking for him several times after he died.

If only I have a doggie that's as faithful as the poodle above. How can you be not touched if you somehow know, even when you've passed away, the pet you used to love and cared for comes back, scratching at the door, trying to find its way to get to you?

Sometimes, I do have to agree that owning a pet is better than you, having to entertain your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Potato Masala

Note: I'm too lazy to copyright my pictures, so, if you want to steal, go ahead and take it - Nothing important actually.

I was busy studying for my sociolinguistics the other night when my brother suggested that we should cook Potato Masala. Honestly, I know nothing about this whole Potato Masala thingy because first of all, I seldom cook Malay or Indian dishes but heck, I love their dishes!

I just went to Nirwana with Sheau Hui and Wendy for dinner - I love, love, love their Banana Leaf Rice. It's just so special that you gotta try it! I'd say the most special dish is their deep-fried bitter gourd with spices. OMG... I've never loved bitter gourd before but they've made me crave for it!

Aherm... I'll leave that for another day or just visit my food blog for more information on Nirwana and other eating outlets.

Today, I'm going go tell you how to cook scrumptious Potato Masala - yeah, I'm lovin' it! Oh, oh, by the way, this is a really easy dish and also undeniably cheap.

1. First of all, peel off the potatoes' skins and cut the potatoes into cubes before boiling them for around 10 to 15 minutes to soften them...

2. White waiting, prepare the spices...

(a) Kunyit powder
(b) Curry powder
(c) Chilli powder
(d) Black pepper
(e) Poppy seeds
(f) Masala salt

The quantity of the spices is very much depending on the quantity of potatoes you're preparing. So, just keep your eyes open so that you won't melebih-lebih.

3. After that, chop onions and garlics. My brother said by putting more onions and garlics, the dish would definitely taste better but still, it's up to individual preference.

The picture of garlics above was actually not much since we ran out of garlics that day - too bad but still, the end result was so good.

4. Pour sufficient amount of cooking oil into the wok like this...

5. Sauté your onions and garlics...

Remember to sauté the onions n garlics until they turn golden brown before proceeding to step number 6!

6. Add in your spices - finally!

And then, goreng-goreng. If the cooking oil poured earlier is not sufficient, you can add in more oil because if the oil is insufficient, the texture of the spices would become harsh and instead of smelling the heavenly aroma of masala, you could smell something burning! Don't say I didn't warn you though!

7. Sauté the spices until they are aromatic and pour in sufficient amount of water, salt, powdered black pepper and chicken stock. Let it boil before the next step...

8. Add in the boiled potatoes!

9. Stir your potatoes well and let it boil for around 10 minutes with slow fire until the gravy becomes a little sticky...

10. Finally, makan! Haha... Yes, step number 10 is to eat the Potato Masala!

There, I've provided you 10 easy steps to cook Potato Masala. Yes, this is so easy that even a 10 year-old child could cook this dish!

Happy trying, people!
