Jen's Wedding

It has been quite a while since I babbled about my life. Well, things get pretty hectic as you age, I guess. At least for mine, yeah, I have been busy trying to juggle personal issues and work. No matter how the ending is, life is quite good now. I mean there are ups and downs but life goes on.

About a month ago, I flew back to Kuching to attend one of my close friend's wedding and believe me, it was indeed one of the grandest weddings of the year. The entire wedding episode took us around 2 days 1 night to complete and I flew back to KL the next day after the wedding due to work commitment.

If you have been following me on my social media, you would have known that I was one of the bridesmaids. To be honest, it was kinda embarrassing to be wearing all the same dresses and flower crowns at my age but well, I mean this could be the last time would ever be a bridesmaid because age is catching up.

Jen told me that her wedding was all that she had ever wanted as a child. Indeed, from the way I look at how meticulously Jen planned her wedding, I would say it's every girl's dream wedding. The church vow took place in St. Peter's Church, Padungan.

I didn't manage to take a lot of pictures because first of all, I went there alone, without any friends hence, there wasn't anyone to help taking pictures but everything turned out good in the end because I made new friends.

I didn't catch the bouquet - I failed terribly and miserably. LOL!

Everyone was telling me, "Angel, go! You should go and catch the bouquet!"

Yeah, I failed... hahahaha... I do realize the more you want something, the more you're not going to get it!

After the wedding vow, we made our way to Amphitheater Kuching for photoshoot session. When I got there, I was awed - it was the first time ever I have seen wedding pictures taken with a drone. I was secretly telling myself, "One of these days, I want this kinda photoshoot for my wedding too!"

God knows if I'd ever get married this lifetime.

Have you had enough of the bridesmaids?

Now, let me show you the groomsmen!

I'm sorry if the pictures aren't clear :)

We went over to the newly-wed's house for photo-shoot as well!

After the morning session ended, we retired back to the hotel to get a quick rest before being ushered to a beauty salon booked by Jen for makeup and hairdo.

The session took around 2 hours as we had to wait for everyone to complete their makeovers.

Jen's wedding reception was held at Sarawak Club. All of us were awed at the decorations and how they have set up the entire place!

It was indeed a job well done for Jen and her team.

I finally managed to take a picture with the ever so popular and beautiful Gwen after hearing so many good things about her! It was indeed an honour!

Please bear with me, two more pictures to go and we are done :)

A compulsory group picture with the newly-wed...

Last but not least, the gang of cool people whom I have made friends with over the 2 days I was in Kuching.

To everlasting friendship!

Whilst to Bart and Jen - Happy Wedding and may the Lord grant you with many children! Stay happy and blissful!

Yoogane @ Bugis Junction

I was at Singapore around 2 weeks ago for the lousiest interview experience ever. Since it was really a bad day, two of my very, very close friends treated me for a nice dinner and they kinda accompanied me just to calm me down.

My friends actually let me choose which restaurant or cafe to go to for dinner and I opted for Yoogane at Bugis Junction. The reason was pretty simple - when I was at Seoul last year, I didn't have the chance to dine there even though I have came across so many Yoogane branches.

I am not so much of a cheese fan due to several reasons so, I usually try to avoid cheese at all cost. That totally explains the reason why I didn't try the ddakgalbi at Yoogane in Seoul.

Anyway, back to Yoogane at Bugis Junction - we opted for ddakgalbi with cheese. I was in a really bad mood so I guess my friends knew food would be the only way to clear my mind.

The set is available at SGD$52.90 or probably a little bit more than that - I don't quite remember. The set is for 2 to 3 persons if you wanna know but honestly, the portion was alright for the 3 of us but I guess we could eat a little bit more. Anyway, if you're a big eater, this portion would be just enough for 2 persons.

They do serve buffet style banchan or better known as side dishes. The banchan ranges from kimchi to marinated bell peppers to coleslaw with weird sauces. I am not that adventurous when it comes to food so, I didn't try out the peppers or coleslaw.

We didn't manage to take a lot of pictures because throughout dinner, we were trying to catch up.

Oh, just like Yoogane in Seoul, you'll be given an apron each to protect your clothes with.

You could clearly see that I was being busy with the apron. LOL!

We didn't manage to finish up the cheese because I guess the 3 of us couldn't take food that is too cheesy. We managed to finish up the ddakgalbi and had second serving of banchan.

After dinner, we managed to take a short walk around Bugis. Then, we decided to head back to the hostel since I was kinda tired.

It will be another while for me to visit Singapore.

Blessed birthday, Angel

Before my birthday month comes to an end, I figure out, I should be doing this entry because this year's birthday was a blast!

I totally didn't see it coming at all - thank you to all the wonderful people around me. Thank you for making my birthday a memorable one this year! Thank you for reminding how blessed my life is having all of you next to me.

My birthday this year was a week-long celebration!

So, the first ever celebration was truly a surprise. Well... I was pretty much taken aback by the plan... I didn't know my BEE students would plan a trip to the much anticipated beach, Belawai.

Plus, getting a cake, secretly praying that the cake wouldn't melt because there is no fridge in the hostel. Seriously, I was so, so speechless when I saw the cake... I almost teared up...

These people even took a quite embarrassing video of me...

Thank you, you guys - I seriously wept silently because I was touched but I was too ego to show you all my tears.

The celebration continues with yet another surprise planned by the sisters.

And thank you to my personal angel, the hubs, for the two-tiered birthday cakes... even though I did smell something fishy but you totally caught me off guard the cakes! Again, I was ready to cry...

Thank you to the best hubs ever... I owe you one and hopefully you can claim it back some day in future. Well, I may forget though...

At the same time, food was great!

However, the most touching scene would be to see all my students from different programmes coming together to celebrate my birthday.

Thank for making my day as well as making me feeling I'm the most lucky person on Earth.

Something extra the next day - a birthday mug cake from dear Justina...

I seriously enjoyed the mug cake so, so much!

During the last day of my service, some of my colleagues surprised me with a birthday cake! Well, I wasn't really expected that from them at all.

Thank you, all of you wonderful people!

On the very same day, four more BBA students showed up in my office with another surprise! How thoughtful of them!

I'm happy but at the same time upset - I know I am going to miss these wonderful people so, so much!

Next up was another birthday celebration with my fellow students whom I have taught from their foundation year to their degree years.

I can't express my heartfelt gratitude to know all of you. You guys are just like the little brothers and sisters that I never have.

On the actual birthday, I celebrated the day with my best girlfriends and sister.

We went over to Penthouse Cafe & Bar by Kingwood Hotel.

Food wasn't that great but prices are at a whooping whoooooosssshh!

We didn't really mind much of the prices but for the quality of the food and services we got, it wasn't worth it.

However, having my girlfriends celebrating the day with me - worth it!

The following day, went out with Mr. C for birthday dinner at Cafe Cafe.

Cafe Cafe has to be my all time favourite restaurant - food, price and service were great!

Not forgetting, the Apple Crumble was really, really awesome too!

The next celebration was with Su Ting at The Coffee Code - my favourite hangout because of the yummy waffles!

Su Ting ordered my favourite Black Code Waffle and even the co-owner of cafe, Lydia, made a special appearance during our photo-taking session.

Thank you, my dear!

The following celebration was with Hwa and Tyng at La Vino.

All the dishes were great but when I saw Hwa chomping own on the 70% raw lamb, I was a little terrified because aside from raw Salmon, I don't take any other raw food.

Well, Hwa said it was nice though.

We ended our day at Wikitea but I was too full to even order any drink...

Hwa was being unfair - he ordered his drink and he had somebody to share the drink with.

Seriously, I did enjoy myself so, so much being with the siblings!

Next day, finally, met up with my then, current batch of foundation students for a simple birthday cum farewell lunch...

Crapped too much during the gathering and suddenly, I had the feeling that soon, I would be missing this bunch of noisy kids.

The next day - it was the day I leave a place I call home, for good. It was quite an emo day because all that had been whirling in my mind - the hubs. I was a little heavy-hearted to leave him behind but there wasn't much I could do.

Once I got to KL, my BFF called me out for a belated birthday celebration at Tony Roma's.

Dinner was okay but again, it was the company that matters.

My third day back in KL, the brother took me out for another belated birthday lunch.

I know what some of you may be thinking.

I have to admit, I am getting older and quite honestly, I do not want to be 30 but time and tide wait for no man... here I am, happy 30th birthday to me.

Loved the Spaghetti Aglio Olio. It was something different from what I usually had - meat, meat, meat and more meat! It was kinda refreshing!

The last birthday celebration for 2015 ended with a dinner date with Mr. Ho.

I seriously enjoyed his company and of course my plate of Deconstructed Beef Salad so, so much!

Once again, thank you to all of you out there for making me feel warm and thankful that I am still alive in the wonderful world.

Happy 30th birthday to me, myself and I... hopefully I would stay healthy, happy, pretty and sexy all year round!

Goodbye, 2014 - you have been mean to me!

Right before we slipped into 2014, I had been telling myself that 2014 would be a good year and everything would be starting fresh but it appeared that I was wrong - wrong in so many ways.

I used to read blogs talking about new year resolutions and now, in 2015, I noticed that I have stopped doing so because I have stopped caring about what other people are going through, be it good or bad. First and foremost, you cannot be labeling me as selfish or anything because you are NOT me to begin with and you do not have the rights to judge what I have gone through in 2014.

However, there is indeed one thing I want to point out - know who your friends are.

On the surface, some people may appear to be friendly and sincere but, ask yourself a question, "Can I trust them?"

If this question has been lingering in your mind for quite some time already, I can tell you, "No, you shouldn't put 100% trust on everyone aside from your family."

Fake friends are everywhere.

In terms of friendship, I guess I am quite idiotic - I tend to trust people easily but throughout 2014, I guess I have learned quite a number of things in friendship.

Some people are waiting for the right moment to bring you down.

They would be the cause of all the problems you would be going through.

Friends like so - you may want to forget about it. You will eventually see that friends like so are going to bring more pain to you than joy.

It broke my heart but what can I do? I don't like making enemies but sometimes, life doesn't go the way you wanted it to be.

Life is cruel but fake friends are more than just cruel...

Much awaited day of the year

So, it is official - I am a year older.

I hope I am a year wiser. Errr... I guess that is a pretty subjective statement, right?

I was half hoping this year's birthday to be a total disaster because most of my close friends are halfway around the world while few who are still around, they were so busy with their work and daily activities. I remember having to pester JT to bring me out for a birthday dinner a week before the day itself.

Yeah, I kinda pester JT for almost everything because he is my BBF.

On another occasion, I did not expect Jane and Belle to show up but I am so glad that they did. Jane rushed all the way back from Kuching after a meeting and a week earlier, she actually ordered a birthday cake for me!

It was a Mango Cake!

Belle, on the other hand, who was so busy traveling back and fro from work and home, made a time to celebrate my birthday with me too! I got an angpau from her as a present! Talking about friends who give angpaus, huh? Hahahaha...

It ended up, I have JT, Jane and Belle to celebrate my birthday with me even though MT, LI and Amy are not around on the day itself. Yeah, you three - you owe me a birthday cake!

I haven't been really celebrating my birthday for the past 8 years I was away from home. Most of the times, it was just a simple dinner with few close friends because as we get older, our commitments grow. Hence, there are hardly time for friends to be able to celebrate birthdays together.

We went over to Garden Hotel for a feast and we were so stuffed!

Food was quite okay and since I was the birthday girl, it was their treat!

Other than that, we managed to do a lot of catch-ups and somehow, all of us realized we have been missing a lot of things in the absence of each other. I guess that is how life will be once you start working and new responsibilities pour in.

I'm thankful that these friends are still around.

On the other hand, I am thankful for a team very supportive, friendly and nice new colleagues as well as the Dean of the faculty. If you are wondering, yes, I ended up going back to teach but the only difference is that I don't deal with primary or high school kids.

Though there are not many of us in the faculty, I am glad they are there and best of all, we are just like family!

They bought the April babies an Orange Cake!

One of my colleagues' birthday is a day earlier than mine, hence, we celebrate our birthdays together in the faculty together with our Dean.

I do realize I look like a nerd these days but I guess that is what an educator should look like, right? Perhaps in days to come, I'll be wearing super thick glasses as the result of reading and preparing lessons for the longest time!

Anyway, it's a Saturday today so, I'm gonna sit back and relax a bit before Monday comes again.

Happy weekend, people!

Something out of the blue

All of a sudden, I have this feeling that I have not been talking much about my life these days already. I guess there are not interesting things going on in my life that is worth mentioning.

No, I am not saying that everyone around me is not prominent but the thing is, yeah, it is about me. I don't feel like talking about friends or family these days. There are a lot of things going around in my life but I've been really lazy to even take note of those happenings or events.

I have the intention to blog about a very precious and close friend of mine because a lot of our friends are often awed or surprised with how we actually got to know each other. Well... I'm gonna have a separate entry on that since I'm feeling like blogging about what I have been doing for the past two weeks or so.

Aside from Dr. N coming for a short trip to KL and the fact that we finally met each other after 1.5 years, my little cousin came for a visit as well. OMG... did I tell you guys that I freaking love my little cousin so much? Hahaha... this is a picture of us... happily barbequeing away.

We went on crazy shopping sprees together. This is one of the cousins that I grow up to love just like my very own biological brother. Other than shopping sprees, we practically did nothing except for catching up because he was away on internship for more than 7 months! My, my, my... I can't believe he's growing up!

I met up with Yin Ting as well because it had been so freaking long since we last met each other too. I guess this is how friendships can actually fall apart. You need to put in efforts if you wanna maintain a friendship. We went to Noodles Station at Midvalley for lunch and I ordered something really cute.

I did not expect it to be so dwarf-y but yeah, dwarf it was!

Other than those 3 fantastic people, 老公 came over to KL last weekend too. It was a short trip because he said he needed to go to IMU to check out girls. Yeah, the truth about 老公 - he fails in the art of playboy-ing but he still loves to check out those hot chicks out there!

Looks like there are indeed a lot of people coming in and out of my life for the previous 2 weeks, right? Anyway, something totally different... I went to Lancôme's roadshow with stupid sister last weekend because stupid sister ran out of skincare products.

Both of us ended up having our personal portraits taken because for every purchase of RM250 and above, you are entitled for a free personal A4 portrait. I requested a smokey eyes and yeah, this is a picture of how the smokey eyes looked like.

I also wanted red lips but too bad on the day itself, I was told the newest collection of Rouge in Love does not have the red shade that I want but it's okay. I chose a coral shade to go with my smokey eyes. I had more than 25 pictures taken because I was complaining all the pictures sucks and the photographer had no choice but to take more pictures until I was satisfied. LOLX!

At the same time, I freaking love how the hairstylist did beach waves on my hair.

I think the steps are easy but if you were to ask me to recreate the waves... hahahahaha... no, I can't do it because first of all, I am too lazy to even style my hair unless there is some kinda occasion or event that I need to attend.

I also like how the waves created volume to my hair...

My, oh, my... when can I have good hair day again?

Maybe I should hire her as my personal hairstylist!

Anyway, here's a picture to share with you all.

Stupid sister was saying that I am a hard-to-deal-with customer she had ever seen in her whole entire life. I mean, WTF, right? As long as you're happy, why care? Life is all about being happy despite growing older, so... embrace it.

After that, we went to Mamak Murni at SS2 for dinner and I had this Kway Teow Goreng with Sambal Udang Petai. It wasn't much of a steptacular dish as I thought it would be. It was too oily and I practically ditched the whole sambal because it was too spicy and sweet to my liking.

One of the thing I enjoy at Mamak Murni would be their beverages. Stupid sister and I shared this portion of Lily Special. I guess for a mamak style cafes, beverages like this do come in affordable prices. The taste is not bad too.

Well... what else can I complain? It's only RM5 for a medium sized beverage!

Anyway, this weekend is gonna be interesting because I'll be meeting one of my friends and we plan to go for another shopping spree together. Then, stupid sister's and my brother's birthdays are coming this weekend too so, I'll be super busy with planning for their birthday dinners.

Before I end this entry, here are another 3 pictures courtesy of Lancôme.

I had to bent my waist and arms to take these pictures because the photographer purposely did that since I complained way too much. LOLX!

Happy working week, people!
