Forever Young, Forever 21

Admit it, the moment when your age hits 21, that's the moment your sanity will shout, "Merdeka, merdeka!" or "Freedom, freedom!"

Now, you're legally an adult and you can finally get married.

At least that was what I felt when I hit 21 few years back, thinking I no longer need to be under the control of my parents and that, I'm old enough to make my own decisions but then again, after 21, the nightmare begins - the journey into adulthood where you've to graduate, get a job, start earning and living off yourself to pay your loans.

*headache*

I am in that phase right now.

Still... sometimes, when I'm really tensed or stressed up, the only place I wanna go to is Forever 21. Erm... I am not a nature-loving person nor am I an adventurous or active person. I prefer to be somewhere with air-conditioning. Yes, I'm a lazy pig and I am terrified of sweating.

Now, you'll know the reason why there are a lot of entries about Forever 21 lately. Yes, I've been to all the Forever 21 outlets within Klang Valley recently because yes, I am stressed that I needed my daily dose of stress-killer - window-shopping!

I went there unequipped with cash but somehow or rather, blame it on the credit cards that I've spent a lot in Forever 21 lately - I hate myself! I went into all the outlets in a rage and started trying on a lot of dresses!

Basically, these are the dresses I have tried and loving but I've got no fixed income to get all of them and if I do, the parents are gonna swallow me alive!

Look at the prices and see what I mean. LOLX! Although I wouldn't say they are at all very expensive but they are not really very affordable too but what to do? I love Forever 21's dresses especially and I don't really mind paying for them since they're of better quality comparing to those found in Sungai Wang or Times Square.

Best of all, their sizes can fit me! LOLX! Hahahaha... I can even fit into a S or M size depending on the design. OMG... I am losing weight, darn! Okay, I'm being random, forgive me!

So, in the end, I bought a piece of toga top, a dress and a floral knitted top that these three pieces of clothes cost almost RM300 after the student privilege 10% discount.

*ho mai gawd!*

There goes my monthly spending!

Looks like I'd need to survive through hunger throughout May 2011 since I've used up my pocket money and gosh! What am I going to eat?!

Still, I am dreaming of the Painted Chiffon Maxi Dress because I love it, love, love, love it! I'm trying to restrain myself from going back to Forever 21 because I for sure know that if I step into another Forever 21, I'll definitely spend another RM99 to get that maxi dress even though I don't promise I'll wear it though.

Lesson of a lifetime - make sure you only have one daughter in future or else, if you're a parent, then, you'll be having headache if your daughter is someone like me, makeup junkie and self-proclaimed fashionista. High maintenance is in the list, so... I'm going to be so dead if I don't earn enough to support myself. Hahahahaha.

Then again, Imma gonna make it an effort to wear the dresses I've bought!

Confidence is Fabulous

I've been really, really being tortured with so many thoughts lately, from work, studies, relationship and also financial issues. I've been trying to divert my attention from these stresses by taking up a job but honestly, my attention isn't being diverted much, instead, I found myself having to go through series of worries that I may not perform well in work.

Recently, I stumbled upon a beauty guru, Jessica Harlow, and found her videos to be very inspiring - she talked about how to feel confident with yourself, tips to success, how to be happy by NOT getting drunk and a lot of other motivational videos.

Oh, of course she's a beauty guru, she has tons of makeup videos - check her out, people! She's just gorgeous and what else can I say? Inspiring.

Honestly, for me, self-confidence comes last in my list because, as a child, I didn't grow up liking myself because nobody liked me - I was an ugly duckling although I know I still am one. Hence, when it came to getting to know new people, I always freaked out at the idea because you know, nobody likes fat and ugly kid.

True enough, we don't need to be in the Miss World list to be confident because confidence comes from within and if we feel good about ourselves, we are confident. I guess it's all down to how we carry ourselves in the eyes of others.

Confidence is not only for girls but it's for the Mars as well. Okay, I shall skip this crap about Mars because we're ain't here to talk about Mars. Hey, it's about feeling confident about yourself and lemme share with you my tips on feeling confident.

Sorry, I don't do videos, so, you've gotta read, read, read...

Rule #1 - Posture, people, posture!

Posture for me is utmost important and I'm still trying to perfectionize it. If we are slouchy, of course we don't look good in the eyes of others and a slouchy person for me doesn't look confident at all. If we have good posture, naturally, people will think, "Hey, this person has got an attitude!" Then again, having attitude doesn't mean being arrogant or ignorance. Well, good postures include standing and sitting straight, keep your shoulders straight as well, keep your head right and no strutting!

Good posture can also bring positive body language!

Rule #2 - Dress up or down according to occasions!

Don't we just hate it when we're in the lime light not because we're wearing DKNY or BCBG but it's because we're dressed up for a BBQ gathering whilst everyone else dresses casually?

Erm... I should say, dress appropriately because the right clothes do affect your self-confidence whether you trust me or not. Of course you don't need to spend a lot to get the best clothes or dress to kill.

If you're someone like me, a self-proclaimed fashionista who loves dresses and more dresses, perhaps retails like Forever 21, Kitschen or Nichii might be right for you.

The other day, I was watching Jessica's video and I recognized her gorgeous dress that I saw at Forever 21. Initially, I thought of getting it but I changed my mind but after I saw the video, I went back the next day to get it.

I'm anal about dresses, okay? Hahaha... Then again, I'm not claiming I look as gorgeous as her but I just love the dress on her and I thought, "I need that dress!"

Rule #3 - Speak your mind!

I know there are times when we are terrified to speak things on our mind for we're scared our thoughts will be laughed at or even rejected but hey, we're unique on our own. We can't control how people think or even what they'll say about us, right?

We don't need to even give a damn about these people because they're just jealous of what we have, so, let others know your thoughts!

I can be quite spontaneous, blatant and shameless at times. LOLX! Hahahaha... At least I do feel good about it, of course, depending on situations.

Rule #4 - Grooming for success!

Well, I do know there are people out there that don't really groom themselves because firstly, buying makeup products for them is a waste of money and then again, they're lazy.

There are no ugly women, only lazy ones, hence, groom yourself, ladies! A little bit of concealer, eyeshadow, blusher, mascara and lip gloss wouldn't kill you, right?

Even for guys, you can groom for success as well.

Rule #5 - Be positive!

This is personally, for me, the hardest thing to achieve as of now because I don't feel 100% of self-confidence in me. Hey, I'm learning, okay?!

Rule #6 - Offer a helping hand to those in need!

I promise, this one totally pays off because lately, I've been trying to offer a helping hand to those in need. Just yesterday, I picked up a wallet with lotsa cash in it. I was telling stupid sister, "We should just shop till we drop!"

In the end, I handed it to the Uniqlo's staff that someone dropped his wallet earlier. True enough, five minutes later, a lady came asking if anyone seen her wallet which looked like what I picked up from the fitting room.

I earned not cash but dignity! I am happy!

Rule #7 - Count your blessings!

Not everyone is as lucky as we are - born healthy and having wonderful friends and family around us to care for us. Take a moment of your life, think of those who yearn for what we're having now - aren't we just lucky?

Rule #8 - Set reachable and possible goals!

Don't reach for the impossible - do what you can and be contented that you've tried your best. Don't overdo things and don't push yourself to your limits or else, you'll go crazy! Hahaha... Sit back, relax and re-decide your goals if something goes wrong.

At least that was what I did when I was trying to lose weight and I'm grateful for helps and supports from people around me that I've managed to shed off a total of 40kg over few years! Initially, I was aiming 10kg per month even though I know it was kinda tough, so... do it slowly if you must!

Rule #9 - Learn to love yourself before loving others!

Yes, true enough - that's the number one rule in love. If you don't love yourself, how do you expect others to love you, right?

Rule #10 - Check out Jessica's channel and subscribe to her!

So, that's what you SHOULD be doing after reading this entry.

Hahaha... I am not paid to advertise, okay?

Anyway... I should end this entry already. I've a lot of other entries coming by this week.

If Jessica's channel isn't sufficient, check out Bubz Beauty and also Jarmaine. I believe they're inspiring too! Definitely worth checking out!

Take care, people and remember, confidence is fabulous!

Sephora Malaysia

I don't know about you but when I first heard Sephora is coming to Malaysia, I went, "Yay!" although stupid sister went, "Nay! You're obviously gonna overspend again when Sephora is officially open to the public!"

So, I marked 28th April 2011 in my personal calendar and even though I missed the grand opening, I managed to go there on the 29th. I thought of avoiding crowds of Sephora fans and it appeared that on 29th, when I was there, there were crowds everywhere in Sephora.

The thing is... before I went to Sephora, I thought the price should have been marked up like crazy since in Malaysia, everything is marked up. You don't have to agree with me but if you've been overseas, you'll know what I've said is true.

Take for example at Forever 21, the price of each piece of clothing can differ around RM10 to RM30. I saw a hoodie being sold for only 890 Baht, that is approximately RM89, whereas I saw the exactly same hoodie at RM119. So, you tell me, is the price being marked up? Talking about Forever 21, hey... I bought another top. Hahahaha... I went into F21 and grabbed the 2 pieces of top below into the fitting room but at the end of the shopping trip, I only bought one because I thought leopard print tops look horrendous on me!

A total waste of moo-lah. Hahahaha... but, I have a love affair with Forever 21, remember? I'm very much in love with their clothing, so don't hate me!

Alright, sorry to have diverted your attention.

Anyway, the first counter that I noticed upon entering Sephora at Starhill Gallery - Urban Decay! Yes, Urban Decay is finally in Malaysia and I won't need to wait months and months to get their products!

I wasn't expecting much of the prices of these makeup products in Sephora Malaysia to be cheap but I went there anyway - curiosity kills the cat but I am not dead, don't worry. In fact, I found myself surviving my wallet through the entire visit there. LOLX!

I spent on nothing because I'm trying to be a smart shopper nowadays. If I like a product, I won't buy it straight away. I'll leave it and if I crave and crave for it for the next few days, I'll go back and get it but if I don't crave for it, I normally will leave it.

When I saw the prices of Urban Decay products, I almost screamed! No, it wasn't because the prices are marked up! No, no, no! The reason was that the prices are so much cheaper than I expected them to be!

Remember the entry when I blogged about UD Naked?

I got it for RM200 exclusive of poslaju. The thing is... I thought RM200 is kinda hefty for a palette but since UD wasn't available in Malaysia yet that time, I thought it'd worth it but when I come to think of that now, RM210 plus poslaju for a single palette is not worth it at all even though I do understand international shipping isn't cheap.

Sighs... I wasted RM35 for this palette because you know what? It retails at Sephora Malaysia for only RM175!

Even for UDPP, I saw the prices online range from around RM65 to RM100 - not UDPP in tube since it's not available in Sephora Malaysia. I expected it to be around RM80 to RM90 but it's much cheaper!

Hey, that isn't so bad, right?

Okay, enough about UD, let's see what else Sephora Malaysia brought in aside from the infamous UD...

Basically, you can find quite a lot of new stuffs ranging from Ardell Lashes, Bare Minerals, Too Faced, Clarisonic, Peter Thomas Roth, Soap & Glory and also Makeup by Sephora. There are also bath and shower as well as skincare products by Sephora in store. Other brands like SKII, Biotherm, Lancome, Smashbox, Makeup Forever, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla are also available but well, these brands are nothing new to us.

Only then, I realized NARS, Tokidoki, Temptu, Philosophy, Tarte, Illamasqua, Kat Von D, YSL and a lot of other brands are not available in our Sephora. I'm actually burning to get Tarte and Kat Von D products but well... the good thing is, I can forget about them for a while until they're available while the bad thing is, I don't think they'll be available at the nearest time.

Anyway, if you're wondering about the prices of the makeup and skincare products there, I managed to remember some of them roughly but mostly UD products since they're my pure love!

UD Naked Palette - RM75 <-- Sorry, I've made a mistake, it's RM175
UD Ammo Palette - RM145
UD Sustainable Shadow Box - RM145
UD Deluxe Shadow Box - RM145
UDPP - RM65 to RM75
UD 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil - RM75
UD Eyeshadow - RM69
UD Deluxe Eyeshadow - RM70 to RM80

Too Faced Shadow Insurance - RM65 to RM75
Too Faced Naked Eye Palettes - RM150 to RM180

Sephora Foundation - RM55
Sephora Highlighter / Bronzer - RM50 to RM55

I can't really remember Too Faced products prices because I took a look at the Naked Eye palette and thought, "Bah, too expensive and so little choices!" I went from one item to another at Too Faced's counter and found myself not awed by any, I don't know why. Well, it could be the price, I guess... I mean, comparing to UD and personal preference, I still think UD is more worth it.

Well, I'll update the price list if I'm passing by Sephora again in future. As of now... gonna get some nap before work time later!

Have a wonderful Thursday and as for tomorrow, it's TGIF!

Love Affair with Forever 21

I guess all close friends of mine know how much I adore Forever 21. Even during my last visit to Bangkok, I spent quite some time in one of the Forever 21 outlets there. Believe it or not, the prices there are actually cheaper than those we have over here in Malaysia.

So, I went to Forever 21 with stupid sister over the weekend and fell in love with several tops and dresses there. I wish I were rich enough to have purchased all the tops and dresses! FML that I'm jobless with a thesis to finish.

We'll leave that for another day.

Okay, here comes the most exciting part!

*screams*

Lemme show you my finds of the day! For RM99 or USD$22.80, you can get this gorgeous satin dress for formal functions and still, looking sweet!

OMG, OMG... I missed purchasing this Colorblock Pleats Dress because stupid sister was telling me, "Where in world are you going to wear this dress to?"

Grrr... I should head back to get this dress soon! I don't fancy working life even though I only work in the evening. FML but for the sake of the irresistible moo-lah, what can I do? I'll be getting this dress soon, let's cross our fingers that it'll still be available by the time I get there. Sure the parents are gonna bombard me with AK47 later for spending so much!

It has been ages since I tried on maxi dresses. I used to think only maxi dresses suit a fatso like me but it appears that maxi dresses emphasize your size more! Ah-hah, I couldn't make up my mind and tried on this Crochet Maxi Dress that retails at RM119 or USD$24.80 because I thought it looked sweet!

Please don't hate me because I know the following picture is gonna make you puke especially if you're eating right now - please don't curse me too. LOLX!

I know, I know, it emphasizes my thick waistline. FML... I have shorter and heavier upper body if you'd notice and I don't really like it a bit!

Thus, I didn't get this maxi dress!

If any of you out there don't know, stripes are the IN things this season! I swear I own not more than 10 pieces of dresses or tops with stripes but it appears I own more than 10 pieces in my closet. LOLX!

I'm loving stripes so, so much that if I come across more of these tops and dresses, I will still get more of them! Stripes never go out of style actually!

Striped Seafarer Tunic retails at RM89 or USD$19.80 and honestly, for the fabric, I'd say it costs a little too much. Hence, even though I have a thing for stripes, I didn't get this piece. If only they're on the shelves for Fabulous Finds that is less than RM50, I might get it.

Another thing, if you don't know as well, I am anal about lacey materials because I always think lace is the definition for SEXY and I know I am too sexy and hot for you to handle. Well, if your lingerie is made of lace, then, it's PURE love!

This Lace Dress with Contrast Belt retails for RM89 or USD$24.80 at your nearest F21 outlet. The thing about this dress is that although it looks nice on the model but it emphasizes my hugeness!

See what I mean? I hate it when dresses and tops make you look gigantic! Don't you think so too? Especially you're very much aware of your size, like me. LOLX!

Sigh, sigh, sigh... what am I gonna do with my humongous size?

Sometimes, I just need a simple piece of dress that I could wear on a casual day - something that is not too fancy or flowery but since summer is in, I guess flowers are the IN things too right now.

Flora Contrast Dress retails at RM59 or USD$12.80 at Forever 21. Well, looks sweet but remember I told you about me, having heavier and shorter upper body? Not good, not good...

See, I told you so! Argh... need to lose some extra pounds here and there but then again, it's not easy to lose those inches off since you know, it's in the genetic that our upper bodies are heavier and shorter.

Anyway, here are some pictures of other tops and dresses that I've tried. I'm kinda in a rush right now, hence, there will be no reference pictures from Forever 21. However, if you're interested, I'll be listing the prices in MYR.

~ Too sexy for words to describe RM59 ~

~ Too plain but expensive RM79 ~

~ Teal Chiffon Frilly Toga Top for only RM50 ~

~ Vertical Stripes Toga Top RM119 ~

In which, among all of the tops and dresses, I got the Vertical Stripes Toga Top. I know it comes at a hefty RM119 but we students have 10% off privilege at Forever 21 these days. So, if you're interested, just flash your student card and you'll be entitled for the discount!

Alrighty... gonna end the Forever 21 entry here for now because I need to head off to prepare some stuffs for work tonight!

Stay tune for part 2! I love playing dressing up!

Before I go, yay... finally, I've gotten my first ever Sembonia handbag that retails at RM329 at only RM39 at Sogo sales! Oh gosh, how I love sales! LOLX! Hahahaha... I love fabulous finds all year round!

Sogo is having sales for branded items like Carlo Rino, Bonia, Jeep, Sembonia, Polo and a lot of other brands until 5th of May 2011. Well, head there if you're interested - I'm sure you can find fabulous handbags from CR or Sembonia at the lowest price of RM29.

Have a wonderful week ahead!
