50 First Dates :)

Pretty much reminds me of the movie that I really enjoyed watch years back.

Honestly, when it comes to dating, I guess I am pretty much a rookie because I don't remember having pleasant dating experiences and that sums up why I am still unattached up to this very day.

Whatever the reason is, we are gonna complete this tag today!

1. How long does it take you to get ready for a date?

I would say most probably, I would need about an hour? Well... a girl gotta do what she's gotta do and I am a firm believer in first impression counts.

Once I introduced a friend to my cousin and it ended up disastrous because my friend met my cousin without dressing up at all - a baggy tee with pants plus big, old thick glasses. My cousin told me, "If you're gonna introduce any girl friends to me, please let her know that the basic of all respect in the world is to dress up when you're meeting a person for the first time."

So, girls, please take your time and doll yourself up a little, alright?

2. Whats your idea of a perfect first date?
a) Dinner
b) Drinks
c) Cinema
d) Adventurous dates

I would go for B - drinks. I don't really feel comfortable going for dinner on a first date. If we are comfortable over a cup of tea or coffee, I guess dinner will follow :)

3. What would you gravitate more towards to wear on a date...
a) Jeans
b) Trousers
c) Skirt
d) Dress

Dress all the way, baby - I love dresses. After all, remember my belief on first impression counts?

Dresses can make you look 100 times sweeter and more innocent!

I only dress down when I get to know my date more through time. Then, I would most probably opt for shorts, jeans or tees.

Girls, dress to impress!

4. On the date of your choice what makeup would you wear
a) Girl next door
b) Smokey and sexy
c) Bold lip
d) Brights

I love make-up but for a date, I would easily go for my first look, smokey and sexy.

I am a firm believer that it's either you go big or you go home. Unless my date doesn't really like seeing me with make-up, I will tone it down to girl next door.

On going out with make-up, well... the same theory applies - if I've gotten to know him, why not?

5. Your date says you have half an hour to be ready what do you do?

If that is a first date - I won't be going if I am not given sufficient time to get ready.

If that is not a first date, I would consider going out with pajamas on, if that doesn't embarrass him.

6. Your date asks for the bill, do you...
a) Offer to pay - with actual meaning to pay
b) Make a fake fuss - with no intention of paying
c) Expect him to pay straight away

I do not expect people to pay for me but if he's gentleman enough, why not?

Regarding bill, if the guy does not even 'offer' to pay and revert the bill to me, no thanks, mister, we are not seeing each other anymore after today.

7. It's time to say goodbye you really like your date do you...
a) Wave
b) Hug
c) Kiss on the cheek
d) Peck
e) Full on smooch

Most probably I would like a hug - I love hugs and occasional kisses but for first date, no thanks... let's just say we would save the best for the last.

I guess that's it about the tag.

This is seriously not the best time to complete this tag because I am deeply affected by quite a number of things right now.

As far as my weekend goes...

I was reading MWS's entry of the weekend and decided to do the poll in my blog. I adore Paris B's entries and found it very informative especially since there are not a lot of beauty blogs you can refer to in Malaysia and she did a great job in keeping all the information most details and stuffs.

So, here goes the poll of the week! If you're interested, you can click on the link above to go to her site - recommended!

Are you into diets and dieting?
As the matter of fact, I am into diets and dieting all the times because I grew up as the fat kid next block. Life was a living hell especially when your family made fun of you and giving you titles such as 'gorilla,' 'king kong' and so on. So, just like Paris B, I tried Atkins Diet and my weight dropped 7kg in 2 weeks, scary but true but when I reverted back to normal diet, poooofff... my weight went up again. It's better to just eat in moderation and if possible, do indulge yourself in exercises even though I don't do it. Fast food is possible but limit it to once every week or once in a fortnight. As for me, the time when I was trying to lose weight, I totally cut off taking fast food for 4 months and guess what? It worked and here I am, being able to ditch a total of 30kg off my initial weight!

Sweet or savoury?

Hmmm... tricky question but I'd prefer sweet. I have a sweet tooth and I love desserts, especially if the dessert looks so mouth-watering! I love ice-creams and I love cakes, yes, make it cheesecake if possible - fattening but once a while will do you good, especially during that time of the month when you're allowed to eat a little more than you usually do. More energy is needed during your dai yee ma's visit, hence, ladies, you can eat more but remember not to overdose yourself with the desserts!

Are you hot tempered?

I guess I am not, I don't get angry easily but once I get angry, there'll be a point of no return because most of the times, the reason why I get angry is that someone whom I thought he or she is a friend and I could trust him or her, ends up cheating me, thus, betraying my trust. So... you'll find me in the most uncomfortable manner of cursing in a psychologically polite way - yes, I don't use foul languages because psychological war is better than foul languages. Lemme repeat, no, I am not hot tempered but please don't step on my tail, that's all.

One beauty item you’ve been experimenting with this week?

No, I did not buy this full bottle because I was skeptical since you know, I am anal about what I slap onto my face. After reading so many wonderful reviews about this foundation, I went to Lancôme's counter at KLCC and this wonderful, wonderful BA, Esther, came to my aid. I tried out this foundation and decided to love it but then again, Esther told me that Teint Idole Ultra has been discontinued in Malaysia and now, she is left with few bottles in stock. I went like, "Aww... how can that be? It's such a wonderful product!" She was so kind - she offered to pump out the tester into a jar for me to try out and aside from that, I was given Teint Miracle Foundation as well. See what I mean when I say kind? LOLX! I love Teint Idole Ultra.

Do you shop online?

This is the cyber age, baby! So, most of my time, if I am not going out, will be spent doing online shopping since all of you know, most of the things in my wishlist are not available within Malaysia. Online shopping is my only solution and I guess majority of us be it guys or ladies, we do online shopping nowadays!

There you go... My answers for Paris B's poll of the week.

Anyway, I've gotten my haircut yesterday. Well... I mean, at least... I've to go to the salon to get a trim especially since my fringe looks like shit now. I was looking at my own reflection in the mirror few days ago and thought to myself, "FML, look at the f*gly hair!"

The last time I was at the salon was on 14th of March 2011 when someone told me bangs is good on me. But I didn't listen to him and get fringe instead of bangs. Hahaha... So this time around, when my fringe touched my cheeks, I've decided to cut it.

Sorry... No proper upfront picture of my new bangs because I am still getting used to the new look. In fact, guess what? I love the bangs! It actually makes me look younger despite the fact that I am reaching 30 soon. LOLX! Yes, I kid you not, I am reaching 30 soon!

End of hair story.

If you're heading to Midvalley this weekend, remember to drop by Sasa because they're having clearance sales for a lot of items from prices as low as RM5 per item! Lioele's products are sold at buy 1 free 1 too!

~ My hauls at Sasa yesterday ~

The sales will be going on until tomorrow, 12th of June 2011 and if you have sudden cravings for perfumes from Bvlgari or even CK or even Issey Miyaki, head down to Sasa at Midvalley. Bvlgari perfumes are sold at around RM110++ so, they're steals!

Anyway, have a great Saturday, peeps and I'll see you all soon!

I look like shit in the mud without makeup on.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?

Beauty routine

So, what is routine actually?

I admit, I am lazy most of the times. I'm not really anal about facial care routines although I am aware that a good complexion wards off all the make-up products.

Hey, hey... don't point your fingers at me and say, "Lazy pig!"

I'm doing a tag to share my beauty routine with you today, so, I'm not lazy.
  1. How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice the least. It's pretty much depending on the weather and the condition of my face.
  2. What skin type do you have?
    Oily and combination
  3. What is your current cleanser?

Mandom Facial Cleansers because firstly, it's cheap (RM8.90 per tube at Watsons) and secondly, I love the tingly and minty after-wash sensation.
  4. Do you exfoliate?
Erm... it pretty much depends on my laziness and maybe the mood. LOLX! Yes, I'm a lazy oink!
  5. What brand do you use?
No specific brand since I'm good with anything that is cheap. Hahaha.
  6. What moisturizer do you use?

L'Oreal Revitalift - both for the face and eye areas. I know, I know... why Revitalift? I have fine wrinkles too, okay? I ain't getting any younger and luckily, these products are not oily, which is good.
  7. Do you have freckles?
    Lucky me, no.
  8. Do you use eye cream?
    Yes, L'Oreal Revitalift.
  9. Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I used to have serious acne problems during my teenage years. I bet that explains all the blemishes I have now.
  10. Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Tried but it didn't work on me.
  11. What foundation do you use?

I have 2 different types on foundations for 2 different functions. If I'm going out on everyday basis and if I'm not lazy, I normally will use Revlon's and if I have a function to attend to, I'll use Stage's. Seriously, if I'm too lazy to use moisturizer and foundation, I'll use BB Cream instead.

Skin79 has the best BB Creams ever! LOLX! I love Skin79 so freaking much but their products are not cheap.
  12. How about concealer?

Stage Photo Creme yada, yada, yada, yada... I can't remember the name. I have several concealers but this is my absolute love as of now!
  13. Do you know your undertone color?
I'm a typical Asian with yellow undertone.
  14. Do you use highlighter?
Yes, of course and I'm very low-profile when it comes to highlighting my facial features. I mean, anything lighter than your skin tone can be used for highlighting purposes.

So, that is the highlighter than I'm using! Cheap, performs well and yeah, love it!
  15. What do you think of fake eyelashes?

I love them! My eyelashes are really tiny and a BC at Lioele mentioned to me the other day that she couldn't even see my eyelashes! I guess fake eyelashes are my only solution, right?
  16. Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, of course but alas... I don't have that kinda practice because, hey... mascara doesn't come cheap, okay?
  17. What brand of mascara do you use?

Maybelline Express Volume, yada, yada, yada... again, I don't know the name!
  18. Do you use any eyebrow pencil? Any recommendation?
Of course! I have fine and shorter-than-usual eyebrows, in length and it always makes my eyelashes seem like being cut off in between. So, I need eyebrow pencils for the perfect brows!

Eyebrow pencils from Empro are my big time loves! They work great and yeah, it's slightly pricey around RM40 for a student like me but hey... I have had this thing since like... last year and it's still with me!
  19. Sephora or MAC?
    Sephora!
  20. Do you have a MAC Pro Card?
No, I've never been to MAC before. I guess, I just have to go there once.
  21. What makeup tools do you use in make-up application?
Majority of the time - brushes and if I'm just too lazy for brushes, I'll use my fingers instead. Clean fingers of course!
  22. If you are using brushes for make-up application, how do you clean them?
I normally wash my brushes using shampoo like once a month or if I'm too lazy to do it monthly, I'd wash them once every 2 months. Let's say... if I am lazier than usual... Normally I'd use spray-on brush cleanser.

I've got no special comment on this cleanser. The only reason I'm using it, is because it's cheap. RM25 per bottle. Not sure of the nett content. You should go and check out at Stage's counters.
  23. Do you use make-up base or primer for the eyes?

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils serve great purpose as eyeshadow base! I kid you not! For just USD$3.50, you can't ask for more, I guess.

Then, there comes another infamous primer!

So, for days when I have functions, I'll use UDPP because I surely don't want to embarass myself with smudged and creased eyeshadows! I'm anal about how people look at me!
  24. For the face?
I have 2 preferances for face primers! My cheap alternative would be primer from Shills. Well, RM15 to RM20, I guess.

This thing works well as eyelid primers too! Well, that means eyeshadow base! It's far better than ELF eye primers!

So, when I have functions, I'll be using Monistat's Chafing Relief Gel since I like this thing a lot due to it's powdery finish!

I feel too sayang if I finish this thing too soon - it's so difficult to get one in Malaysia!
  25. What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?

You can always depend on NYX if you want affordable and yet pigmented eyeshadows! The ones I love are Jazz Night and Nude on Nude Natural palettes.

But again, when I have functions, I always want to be in the limelight! So, UD's Naked is my only solution!

Should I tell you how wonderfully pigmented and smooth these eyeshadows are? OMG... I totally love these colours!
  26. Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Both but I still have preferance of which to get.

Stage Pencil Liner is quite long lasting, hence, I super love it on my waterline! It might not be comparable to MUFE Aqua Eyeliner or whatsoever the name is but I still love it. Another love for pencil liner is UD 24/7 Eye Liner.

This thing is not advisable for waterline. As of the application on lids, it's great and very smudgeable! You can even create smokey eyes with this pencil alone.

As for liquid eyeliner, I love Kate's. This eyeliner has super fine head and lining your eyes has never been easier!

Pros - not so expensive and readily available throughout Malaysia!
  27. Do you fancy gel eyeliner?
Why not? I mean, hey... sometimes gel liners work great, better than pencil or liquid liners! Take for example those liners from Physicians Formula!

These gel liners are super pigmented and they are really long-lasting on my oily lids. Hence, please, Malaysia, please bring more of these gel liners in!
  28. How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner?
Erm... when I first started out, I did poke my eyes quite often but now, not anymore!
  29. What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I have love-hate relationship with pigment eyeshadows. When I say I hate them, it's usually caused my fall-outs! When I say I love them, it will be because of their vibrant colours.

The ones I love are from Jesse's Girl. Cheap and pigmented and the downside of it, they're hard to get hold of in Malaysia.
  30. Do you use mineral make-up?
Of course I do but I'm not a big fan. The only thing I have that is of mineral make-up line is Physicians Formula's loose powder.

As of now, I love this product. No ghostly-white finishing during photoshoots and best of all - it comes in a big bottle!
  31. What is your favorite lipstick?
    NYX Round Lipstick!

Again, smooth and glide-able! Hahahaha... cheap too - around RM10 each! I have several favourite shades too!

There you go! Now, gimme my Christmas cum New Year present!
  32. How about lipgloss?
    NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss!

Serious, these things are great - not sticky and quite long-lasting! Even the colours are super nice and pigmented. Not too overly shimmery or stuffs.
  33. What is your favorite blush to use?
    NYX Powder Blush of course!

These are 2 shades I'm totally in love with for god-knows-how-long! They're very, very pigmented and natural and of course, cheap too. They retail at around RM20 each!
  34. Do you buy your makeup on e-bay?
No and I don't know how it works!
  35. Do you like drugstore make-up?
Some of them, especially when the products are worth buying!
  36. Do you go to CCOs (Cosmetic Company Outlets)?
No... what the hell is that?
  37. Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes, of course - perhaps one of these days!
  38. Are you clumsy in putting on make-up?
    Sometimes. Hahaha... I'm always clumsy!
  39. Name a make-up crime that you hate?
Looking overly pale and white when my foundation and concealer shades are not right! I tried that before and I look atrocious in pictures!
  40. Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
    Neutrals!
  41. Which celebrity (ties) always has great make-up?
    Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox.
  42. If you had to leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
    Concealer.
  43. Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?
Why not? I don't think I look at all so atrocious to the point I can't even see anyone without make-up on.
  44. Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
    Err... Hahahaha... okay, I think.
  45. In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?
    Urban Decay.
  46. What do you think of make-up?
It is a passion, an art that not everyone will appreciate but I am happy and grateful that I do appreciate them!
  47. Last question - how do you remove your make-up?
    Use make-up remover of course!

Mandom Cleansing Express works like wonder! Best of all, it's a water based cleanser and not oily at all! It cleans so well except for waterproof mascaras. The other make-up remover that I love is of Biore's facial wipe! Like super, okay.
Phew... finally... my beauty routine ends. Hahahaha... It took me 2 days to finish this thing!

Anyway, have a wonderful weekend!

Cheap vs. Thrift vs. Splurge - Eyeshadows

Too painful, still cannot talk, so, I'll blog again.

Let's talk about eyeshadows today - now, this is my favourite part of make-up. I mean, I am happy whenever I see colours and I love colourful make-ups but I can never pull off coloured eyeshadows other than neutral tones.

I always think I look atrocious with purples and also blues. Smokey eyes always ended up making me look like kena tumbuk - according to my sister.

But still, it's not gonna dampen my spirit when it comes to this topic!

Cream Eyeshadows

I have oily lids, hence, cream shadows never last on me for more than 2 hours but still, I was over the moon when I found out MUFE has a palette full of cream eyeshadows because it looks so freaking gorgeous! Furthermore, most of the colours are matte colours!

Sadly, the price for this palette is gorgeous too. It retails at USD$95 per palette. Meaning, it's around RM300 to RM400. Now, are you gonna splurge on this palette if you're not a make-up artiste?

Next up is Illamasqua. Their new collection of limited cream eyeshadows are really pretty and gorgeous - there I go again - freaking gorgeous!

For USD$42.50 per palette of 4 colours, are you gonna splurge on it? It's more expensive than MUFE's palette! Imagine spending RM500 now. Oh, no, surely not me!

The best thing about cream eyeshadows - no fallouts even when they come in glittery formula like NYX Cream Glitterati Palette!

This palette is definitely for glitter lovers - USD$13 only for 13 colours - you should get this palette and add it to your collection just in case you need it! I didn't order this enormous palette but I got 2 mini sizes of it :) 10 colours are enough for me.

Pigment Eyeshadows

I used to hate pigment eyeshadwos because I thought they were so inconvenient if being compared to pressed eyeshadows. I didn't know we could actually press the pigments at home.

After quite some time, I've decided to give these pigment eyeshadows another try and guess what, I'm loving them now!

NYX surely has the most inexpensive pigment eyeshadows!

Remember to check them out if you wanna save on them - usually you can get them at USD$1.50 to USD$3 depending on which site you wanna buy them from.

I own 2 of these babies and believe me, they're sure pigmented!

Another cheaper brand would be Jesse's Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dusts that retails for USD$3.99 each.

I love the colours but the downside is that, it's not available in Malaysia. I was lucky enough a friend helped me to buy them while she was in the US few months back - I adore their pigments!

Next up, pigments from MUFE.

Need I say more?

I won't splurge so much on a single colour for the time being. Let's say, I shall when I'm a millionaire. Hahahaha. It retails at USD$13 to USD$17, not sure about it's price in Malaysia though.

Coming next in the splurge line would be Ben Nye's pigments.

I've heard good reviews of them but too bad, they're quite expensive and not easily available locally. I'm not sure of the price but if you know, lemme know.

The internationally famous brand - MAC, has their own line of pigments.

Expensive? Kinda - USD$19.50 each. If I'm not mistaken, it should be around RM60 to RM80 per bottle of pigment.

Last but not least, one of the most expensive pigments that comes in very small jar - we have to credit Urban Decay for them.

Retails at USD$20 per bottle - that is freaking expensive because I remember reading a blog post about these pigments. They come in a very mini jar - much, much, much smaller than other high-end brands.

I've got few of these babies coming. Will share by next year. Hahaha. I didn't get it for USD$20 each of course - I got it for USD$2 each from Hautelook. Hahaha. Damn worth it, right?

End of pigments' stories.

Single Eyeshadows

I am not a big fan of single eyeshadows because I always think they're so not worth it unless you're a make-up enthusiaste that make-up on everyday basis, like my sister. But if you love them because of the quantity, I'd say the cheapest would have to go to NYX!

They retail at USD$5.50 each. If you could find them within Malaysia, it should be around RM15 or RM18 per colours - I own 2 of these - great colour pay-off. Comparable to MAC.

Why do I know?

Well, I just so happen to buy MAC's Mineralize Eyeshadow lately and I love it but the colour pay-off isn't as great as NYX's.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow mostly retails at USD$19 to USD$26. Expensive for single-coloured eyeshadow, right?

Well, if you're a budget, don't get these but if you've gotten these, great for you. I love mine!

Eyeshadow Palettes

Lately, Wet n' Wild came out with very, very budget-friendly eyeshadow palettes that have 6 different colours in one palette.

Reviews are good and best of all, they retail at USD$5.50 each. Now you tell me, how is that not worth it?

Next in line would be those palettes from NYX.

NYX's 10-colour palettes retail at USD$9.50 per palette and they're almost the same price as Maybelline's and Loreal's palettes. The only difference is that, they're more pigmented and long-lasting! I got mine in Jazz Night and Brown Eyes!

Just earlier this year, NYX came out with new palettes - hooray - they're permanent, don't worry!

NYX Smokey Look Kits - USD$11 for each. Good colour payoff and yada, yada, yada.

But if you're greedy and you want all those 4 palettes but hesitant to pay USD$44 for all the palettes, now, you don't have to worry, you can pay USD$22 and get everything in one in NYX Smokey Look Collection!

Additionally, you'll get glitters and highlights and bronzers. Shit, I should have gotten this one instead!

Smokey eyes' lovers - no problem!

This retails for USD$15 each. Not sure about it since I didn't get this set but you can search it online. I guess it's not so bad.
