Hi, Bob!

Honestly, when it comes to hairstyles, I am not a very adventurous person. I have developed this phobia of going to salons after a nightmarish haircut at one of the salons in Cheras a number of years ago. I requested for a Bob hair but the idiotic hairdresser gave me a reversed bob cut like the picture below. After that particular haircut, I was left scarred.

Now that I think that, I guess that particular hairdresser was being idiotic - like, how many people on Earth would want a haircut like that? I think he didn't quite understand what is bob cut and he interpreted my words wrongly. Then again, I did show him a picture but still, he got it wrong.

Throughout the years while I was trying to grow my hair back, I refused going to the salons to even trim my hair. That was one of the reasons why I kept my hair as long as possible and from time to time, I would trim my split ends at home, by myself.

Another reason was that, I always have the thought that the longer your hair is, the sexier you are. Well, honestly, I loved my long hair so, so much!

Even when I would have to spend around RM150 a month just to get hair shampoo, conditioner and treatment masks, I still loved my long, long hair. I would use up 1 liter of hair shampoo in just one month and I know it was unbelievable - I wash my hair on everyday basis.

I am sorry but I do not like it when people tell me that I cannot wash my hair everyday as washing the hair everyday will result in stripping off the hair's natural oil. I am not going to listen to you because I cannot risk having oily hair the next day.

If you have been reading my blog for quite some time, you know that I have been keeping my hair long and seriously, I had no intention of cutting my hair at all...

I was secretly infatuated and in love with my hair because you know... long hair means I can smell my hair from time to time.

Oh, I just love perfumed shampoo and I have weird habit of smelling my hair. Personally, I think that everyone's hair should smell great and I get turned off with those people whose hair smell really bad. If you are going to be around me, make sure your hair smells good be it long or short!

So, what happened the other day that completely changed my mind about long hair...

I was in the toilet - you know, normal routine... As I was sitting down on the toilet bowl, I accidentally sat on my long hair with my bare naked butt. Luckily I realized I was sitting on my hair or else my long hair would be bathing in the toilet bowl. The aftermath of it, I washed my hair twice just because I am kinda paranoid about personal hygiene.

After thinking and thinking about it for the next one to two weeks, finally, I gathered enough courage and went to the salon - to trim my hair. I was telling myself, "I would just trim about 1 to 3 inches off, that's it!"

I was being cowardly.

However, few minutes later, something struck me - the sudden gush of bravery got the better side of me and I told my hairdresser, "I wanna get a bob cut but please make the  front part longer because I want it to be really obvious that it is a bob hair!"

There you have it!

I chopped off my long hair!

If you are wondering why my chopped off hair doesn't look that long, well... before I came to KL, I have trimmed around 3 inches off my long hair.

Honestly, the whole experience was kinda scary because I kept on thinking, "What if the end result was just like few years ago? I do not want to look like a clown!"

In about half an hour, my hairdresser told me, "Done!"

I hastily put on my glasses and I was like, "Oh, wow!"

I have never even dreamed I would look good with the new bob hair. You see, all my life, I have been spotted with long, long hair and I kinda got used to looking at my own reflection with long hair. All of a sudden, my head felt so light. Well, after you have had long hair for years and chopping them off does make your head feels so much lighter!

I was telling myself again, "No way, no way!"

I kinda liked it but still, I was trying to get used to the new hairstyle. I mean I like the new hair but getting used to it is still a problem - I am too used to having long hair. Even when I am pumping out hair shampoo during shower, I tend to pump out too much!

After having this new bob hair for almost a month now, I find that I am very obsessed with my hair.

A lot of my friends actually told me that I look so much younger with shorter hair. It is as if I have chopped off years from my face.

Well, point proven - long hair tends to weigh your age down.

Shorter hair means you need lesser hair shampoo, conditioner and treatment mask. Well, that is a good news for me as I do not need to overspend on my hair every month from now on. Even the time you need to take to dry your hair has been halved too with shorter hair. Previously, it took me two hours or more to air-dry my long hair but now, I can get it done within 30 minutes!

I love my hair!

As good as things may seem with my new bob hair, I find there are cons too!

With long hair, I always left it to air-dry without even combing it and when it was already dried, I could just use my fingers to run through my hair and voila, no styling required!

With shorter bob hair... honestly, I can tell you that there is NO short cut!

You need to spend extra time to blow-dry your hair with a hair-dryer! No joke! If you do not do so, you hair would go every direction! You will end up with a messy and retarded hairstyle. Been there, done that and not liking it at all! Hence, after every hair wash, I would need to take out my hair-dryer and round comb, well, basically, styling it as it dries!

You need to spend on either a flat iron or curling tong! You may be thinking hair-dryer alone is enough but lemme assure you, no, girlfriends, the hair-dryer alone does not do the justice at all! You need either a flat iron or curling tong to flat out the front part of the bob hair and to curl the back of the hair to give it more volume. If you are lazy, your bob hair is going to look so flat that you'll be the ugliest person with the ugliest hair!

With all the heat going on to style your bob hair, you need to spend a little bit extra on heat protectant products! If you are going to use heat on your hair on daily basis, you really do need to spend on the above mentioned products else you will risk having split ends.

These days, I have been training myself to be more patient when it comes to styling my hair. Trust me, I am not the person with the best patience in everything I do and with this new hairstyle, I have to really spend extra time and effort to style it because I do not want to look ugly.

Even if I do not wash my hair in the morning, I still have to style it using my flat iron.

So much for shorter hair, huh?

Whatever that is... I am loving my new bob hair so, so much... I am considering to cut it a bit shorter at the back but I am kinda worried that it will not look good on me. Well... probably I need more reassurance from people around me...

10 personal haircare practices

I have always thought of getting a short hairstyle but I always backed out at the very last minute because I just couldn't make up my mind. The reason is quite simple - I had my hair cut real short last time and a few days later, I regretted my decision because my face looked so round... at least that was what I thought at that time.

Then, when I got to know about asymmetrical bob-cut, I was so tempted.

I tried getting several feedbacks from the professionals and people around me. Most of the comments that I had gotten were - the haircut will emphasize your round face, the haircut is not professional as an academician, the haircut will be messy if you do not straighten your hair every hair wash, bla bla bla, yada yada yada.

In the end, I made up my mind to keep my hair long - as long as it could be.

So, I kept my hair for 3 long years without chopping any length off until last January - I finally gave it and chopped 2 inches off my hair but then, I think my hair's metabolism is quite high because within 4 months, I got back the initial length now, my hair is almost touching my butt. LOLX! Hahahaha...

Anyway, we shall discuss about haircare to keep your tress shiny and healthy - or at least to make it look shiny and healthy.

~ No filler or photoshop or anything ~

I always get a lot of questions about my long hair from my friends or even strangers that I meet. I don't know why but some of the people that I know just love stroking through my long hair and get amused with the length and also straightness of it - straightness? Does it make sense to you?

Anyway, I hope you get what I mean.

I was born with naturally straight and smooth hair and of course, I thank God for it.

My hair wasn't always straight in the past because it was kinda peer pressure thingy that got me to perm and straighten my hair despite its original condition. Shortly after, I had some highlights and guess what - it burnt my hair like mad. After that, I completely gave up perming my hair and told myself I wouldn't even consider on straightening or perming my hair.

As far as colouring goes, yes, occasionally, I do colour my hair and still able to maintain the shine from time to time because I believe each of us have our good and bad hair days!

Let's look at my do's and don't's when it comes to keeping your hair healthy and shiny.

1. Air-dry your hair

Yes, I do realize if you blow-dry your hair, your tresses will be easy managed but do you realize if you do that too often, you're gonna damage your hair? The heat from the blow-dryer will dry up your hair's natural layer of moisture!

2. Straightening or curling your hair

You can't escape the desire to get that nice curls or straight hair - what will happen to your hair if you were to do it on everyday basis? Our hair needs rest as well - you can straighten or curl your hair but do remember moderation is the key. Personally, I only curl my hair if there is occasion or if I feel like so. I guess that only happens once in a blue moon. I haven't been curling my hair for 3 months already! If you do use any heat instrument, please use heat protectant.

3. Rigorous towelling

Your wet hair needs to be dried so you rigorously dry your hair using your towel - lemme tell you, you are going to break your hair if you do so! I used to do that and my hair just wouldn't grow anywhere past my shoulder. When I changed the way how I towel my hair, miraculously, I found out my hair doesn't break so easily!

4. Use conditioner and treatment

I used to ditched these two crucial steps. No wonder my hair was so dry in the past! When my daily regime changed and I started using conditioner on daily basis, I noticed my hair had become smoother. After conditioner, I would use treatment once every week - the condition of my hair improved! I would say using conditioner and treatment is not a myth so girls, do use them!

5. Use wide-toothed comb

Contrary to brushing your hair while it is still wet is bad for the hair, my habit is always to comb even when my hair is wet. I hate tangled hair after shower because my long hair takes about 1 to 2 hours to be completely air-dried. So, to aid the drying process, I would comb through my hair using a wide-toothed comb. However, if you have decided to comb your wet hair, always remember to do it gently.

6. Use hair serum or cream

Serum or cream acts as a layer of protection for your hair especially if you are exposed to the sunlight. Furthermore, serums will provide more nutritions to your hair.

7. Tying up your hair

Yes, it will be a polished look but it'll leave dent to your hair if you tie your hair up too tightly or too often. Sometimes, your hair desires to be let down as well so, please do so.

8. Brushing your hair frequently

Thou should never brush your hair too often. There is no evidence or proof that hair-brushing or combing will boost hair growth. Nah, don't ever trust that. If you were to brush your hair too often, you are prone to hurting your scalp and also breaking your hair, especially if you have hair as long as mine.

9. Haircut will boost hair-growth

If you plan to grow your hair, you should never, ever, ever cut your hair. Lemme tell you from my own experience - your hair will never grow longer with haircuts. Let's do it the easy way - if you keep on cutting your hair as soon as it grows longer, try imagine how long will it take for your hair to reach your butt? Get me? Long hair means no haircut! However, you can get the split ends to be trimmed once every 2 months or so.

10. Slapping on too many products

Always remember - less is more!

Okay, those are the 10 do's and don't's that I have been practising for the past 3 years when I was growing my hair. I am so glad I stick to it and my hair's condition - quite healthy despite some of the split ends that I have. I would get it trimmed soon - perhaps one inch off. LOLX!

What are you haircare secrets?

My wonderful life

Hi, people! Hopefully all of you are doing real great.

I haven't been doing much updates lately on what I've been doing with my life. I mean, I do update but those are scheduled updates because the internet at my hometown is such a disappointment that it keeps on disconnecting in the mid of surfing.

It gets pretty agitated especially when you have to restart your modem more than 10 times a day. Whatever that is, I'm gonna do a really simple update of what I've been doing lately.

If you don't know what, I have been really active on Instagram and it's crazy. I'm hooked to it and I pretty much took a lot of pictures of almost everything via Instagram.

Anyway, I finally get to do my hair after 3 long years of keeping it untouched.

I am a little anal about the whole hairdressing issue because previously, I went through an unforgettable experience of having the hairstylist cutting my wrongly!

It was really horrible because I had to keep that ugly hair for half year before I could do anything to it. The length was terrible and the haircut was probably the ugliest haircut anyone could ever seen. Initially, I wanted an A-line bob cut and the stupid hairdresser actually went ahead and cut my hair the other way round.

The result was something like this...

Imagine keeping that idiotic looking hair because of the hairdresser's slow brain that cannot fathom what I want! Indeed, it was first world's pain. I had to go back to the salon two days later to have the entire length cut off and stuck with freaking short hair for a year!

After that, I told myself, "No more hair-styling, especially in Ampang!"

LOLX!

Since then, I never styled my hair at any salons at KL or PJ any longer exception for my bangs and fringe that always get in the way.

Anyway, I contemplated whether or not I should chop off my long hair but in the end, I chickened out and told my hair dresser, who happened to be my cousin, not to chop off my mane because I super love the length of my hair. She suggested that I should get rid of my ombre hair because I haven't been dyeing my hair for 3 years as well. Well... I spent like an hour or so trying to get rid of my ombre hair.

I chose a colour that is a little lighter than dark brown because I am not a brunette. LOLX! Here's the end result!

Okay, my hair still looks a little ombre-ish in the picture but believe me, it is not ombre at all in real life.

Enough story about my hair.

The other day when I was ransacking my mum's wardrobe, I found one lipstick that I thought I may like. I ended up loving it instead.

It is something fuchsia. I have never tried any fuchsia lipstick before and guess what, I think I love it now. So, I begged mum to give it to me and she agreed.

I shall do a separate entry on the lipstick later on.

Here's another picture of me with the lipstick on - no filler, no photo-shop or anything.

Grrr... my life has been ever so wonderful lately - waking up at 6am every day for my morning jog and ending my day with another round of jog at 5.30pm daily.

I told my friends Imma gonna die by the time I get back to KL.

Oh, by the way, I plucked these flowers from the backyard of my neighborhood this morning.

Aren't they beautiful?

Sighs... I miss my honey-bear so, so much...

May the odds be forever in your favour

Sounds familiar, right?

I guess this phrase has been used over and over and over by so many people in so many blogs or maybe even in reality over and over and over again, right?

If you are not aware of it yet, I'm sure you have heard about The Hunger Games.

I wasn't really intrigued with the idea of catching that movie when hommie asked me to go with her because I have my Movie Pet Peeves. Lemme tell you about them.

  1. If the trailer doesn't attract me, the movie just won't attract me to it.
  2. I don't really fancy movies that revolve life in slums or stuffs like that.
  3. I am someone who gets attracted to the characters in a movie so, if the characters in a movie are not of the WOW factors, then, I won't be catching that movie.

Talking about my movie pet peeves, yeah, The Hunger Games just didn't seem to be appealing enough but since hommie went like, "Yer, yer, yer, yer... c'mon, let's go for The Hunger Game, please, pretty please?"

I gave in so off I went to Cineleisure with her.

Thus, the movie started. Honestly, I hate to admit this but I was kinda intrigued with all the hairstyles of all the characters in the movie! The first person in the movie that caught my attention was definitely Effie Trinket.

Hahahaha... who would even come out of the house, looking like that in this era? So, there was something different in The Hunger Game after all.

Like I've mentioned, the hairstyles of all the characters in the movie really intrigued me and of course, this means the hairstyles of Katniss Everdeen that was played by Jennifer Lawrence.

I have always wanted to wear a side braid but then again, I hate to admit this fact - I am really lousy and clumsy at styling my hair. The only hairstyle that I can pull off is stick straight hair that I have been keeping and maintaining for years.

Oh, if you're wondering, my hair is ORIGINALLY stick straight. I did not go for rebonding or even straightening. I do have a love-hate relationship with my straight hair actually. When I wanna try out different curls, my straight hair can NEVER hold curls. Within 4 to 5 hours, the curls would be gone and there I would be, with straight hair again. I have to use tons and tons of styling products to keep whatever hairstyles I did on my hair.

However, the best part about my straight hair, when I run late in the morning, I usually can just use my fingers to comb through my hair and voila, I'm all done!

This time around, I intended to re-create a side braid inspired by Katniss. My challenge was to do a side fishtail braid instead of the normal braid because my hair is not as thick as Jennifer's so, I can't never complete that look #failmax.

FML because I went through great deal of troubles trying to braid my straight hair. My hair just would not sit still in braid! The braid kept on going loose even before I was done with it.

How annoying could that get, right?

After trying for a good 5 to 10 minutes, finally, I did it!

There you go, a side fishtail braid inspired by Katniss Everdeen.

It was super difficult to create the hairstyle on myself because my hands are always flimsy when it comes to hairstyles. I tried to tighten the braid on the top of my head but after 2 hours, the braid went loose. Anyway, here is a picture of how the braid looks like from the top.

My apologies that I took this picture only after 2 hours and not directly after I've done with the braid.

I am not a professional hairstylist, so, I need a something to hold the end of my braid hence... I used a hairband to fasten it!

I told you about my hair, right? The stick straight strands just won't sit still so, I guess what you can see in the picture says it all.

I love this side braid so much that I have worn it quite a number of times last week.

Here's a picture of my other attempt because I wanted to make it neater but again #failmax.

I like how my other attempt looked from the top. Despite of still being too loose, I think the messier this hairstyle is, the better it looks in real life.

Hence, I tried so many times to take the picture below from the right angle as I don't have eyes on top of my head, I spent almost 2 to 5 minutes, trying to get the perfect angle!

Here's a picture of the messiness of the hairstyle! Hahahaha... I really am not a professional hairstylist but still, I enjoy doing this braid because the more I do it, the easier it gets!

You should try it if you're interested. There are tons of different tutorials to create this braid. I'm sure you'll find the perfect side braid inspired by Katniss Everdeen!

Alright, before I complete this entry, lemme just share a side-by-side picture of Katniss' braid and mine. Not a perfect braid but I certainly don't think I did badly too.

Before you jump into assumption, lemme just make things clear, if you are Jennifer Lawrence's fans, I do not claim I look like her nor am I trying to look like her. I am just doing a hairstyle INSPIRED by her. If you need to know what 'inspired' means, go look up the dictionary or google it up.

Oh, something extra... did Jennifer Lawrence put on weight after The Hunger Game?

It certainly looks so to me in the picture above.

Liese Bubble Hair Colour

I went to Sasa today and damn... I over-shopped. In fact, I just planned to look around and not getting anything but I guess lady luck wasn't on my side because... I've finally found Liese's Bubble Hair Colour in market right now and darn... Why must it enter Malaysian market at the time I'm broke? Hahaha...

Broke as in literally, don't worry.

Moral of the day - do not go out if you don't plan on getting anything because... you might just end up like me and my haul.

Everything is sold at 20% to 50% discount and I've bought like almost all the stuffs that are not really necessary, that includes Liese Hair Colour but damn... I am hooked to it right now. Next time around, I will stick to this brand - super easy and user-friendly!

I've heard about this thing since earlier this year but paid no attention to it but right now, I'm hooked to it due to the simple instructions.

The colour that I've tried is...

Chestnut brown - I don't really fancy brown colour but since they ran out of most of the colours, I have no other choices. Wella and other brands do not have the colours of my preferance too.

So, when the kit is opened, you'll see the following items...

So, basically, all you have to do is to read the instruction manual and then... campur 1 dengan 2, lepas itu, 3 dengan 4. Read it on your own.

No time to describe step by step. LOLX!

I am super mean.

After you've done shampooing your hair with the hair dye, you'll look something like this...

I'm sorry for my terrible complexion - acne problems nowadays! I know, I know, I don't really fancy having acnes on my face too but what to do?

I love the fact that this hair colour comes in bubble form with it's non-drip formula. Tell me, how can you not love such a great product?

Oooh, oooh... lemme show you a before picture!

~ Before Liese ~

After one hour or so... This is the result...

~ After Liese ~

I know, you can't see any difference but in real life, the colour is more brownish that my previous colour. It's simply noticeable under natural light.

Hence, if you guys are searching high and low for a good hair dye, try and find Liese Bubble Hair Colour!

Ciao - off to bed!

Kiss me

Yeah, for the fact that I'm so free even though I'm in class and still, blogging like the lecturer doesn't even exist. Wuaah... Mum and dad are so going to strangle me if they see me doing this!

Never mind... so, let's just go to the purpose of this entry...

My hair nice not, nice not? Tell me it's nice and I'll be so thankful that I'll kiss you.

Okay, I know you're going to ask why was I wearing something like that... Imma going to tell you the reason why. I had my favourite Giordano shirt on but because it was freezing cold in the lecture hall, I was forced to wear a thick jacket.

Tata...
