Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder

I have long heard about Ben Nye but I have yet to try their products mainly because they are not available in Malaysia and secondly, I guess I have everything from foundation to blusher to lipstick to setting spray.

However, there is a product that I have been wanting to try because Kim Kardashian made it famous. It is non other than the infamous Banana Luxury Powder.

This is the description I got from the website.
Formerly known as Visage Poudre Luxury Powders, these ultra-neutral powders provide superior matte and subtle finishing. Often compared to French powders with silky-fine textures. the Ben Nye Bella line of powders are translucent with just a hint of color.
When the product got to me, I was a little disappointed with the packaging.

It's very bulky and difficult to bring around. I am always travelling and I do wish certain products are more travel-friendly, especially products that have been raved by the beauty community.

On top of that, BLP can get a little messy due to the large holes on the sifter.

Whenever I am using the product, the powder gets everywhere and soon, it becomes annoying that I stopped reaching for it. I don't like the fact that I need to clean up my vanity table after each application because the powder got everywhere.

Let's discuss about the texture of the powder.

If you do not know yet, Bobbi Brown Retouching Powder is my HG setting powder and I super love that the texture of the powder is so fine to the point it feels so good when you apply it onto your skin.

I was expecting the same thing when I use BLP.

I don't think the powder is fine enough and surely, it doesn't perform like my BB's powder. Honestly, for a fraction of BB's price, there is nothing to complain.

The fact that the powder really lengthens the longevity of my foundation and concealer cannot be denied.

With the powder, my foundation and concealer do last about 1 to 2 hours longer. However, at the end of the day, the powder would have worn off on it's own even with setting powder.

My two-cent?

Pros
Lengthens the wearing time of foundation and concealer

Cons
Not available in Malaysia
Bulky packaging
Not travel-friendly
Messy application
Does not exactly have fine and smooth texture
Performs just like any other setting powder
Does not really last on oily skin

In conclusion, I am still going to say this - I don't think I will replace my BB's powder with this on long run because BB's powder has been performing wonders on me. However, if you're interested, you can get it from Retail Paradise.
