My mask collection

Okay, let's just say when it comes to skin care, I am kinda lazy... Yeah, I know the fact that I am ageing but still, there is still this little tinge of laziness that stops me from giving my skin extra love. In the past, I used to use mask once every month or if I am not lazy, maybe twice a month or in the worst case, well... I totally don't use masks at all for 2 to 3 months. That's my level of laziness for your information.

Ever since I started working in an environment where I was exposed to the beauty of skin care, I have incorporated the use of facial masks into my daily skin care regime.

The whole mask thingy is quite addictive actually.

I know there are people who go like, "You shouldn't use mask everyday because it will strain your skin with too much nourishment and causes breakouts."

Honestly, I have yet to experience breakouts from using facial masks everyday for the past one month. Therefore, my answer to the above statement is, "It depends on your skin and also if you can afford using mask everyday. If you can afford, why not?"

I don't mean to show off but... my mask collection is kinda scary...

There you go... part of the facial masks that I own. Did I tell you not that it is addictive?

I was over the moon the other day when I got a package from Jo and guess what? More masks!

OMG... I am so in love with my girl friend - best girl friend ever, ever, ever, throughout the whole universe!

Lemme share with you some of the masks that I love!

I don't mean to be expert but this is purely based on my preference since I have tried out a lot of facial masks from different brands out there and well... just like any typical person, I have my hits and misses.

When it comes to masks, I always prefer Korean masks over Taiwanese masks - I don't know why. I used to like My Beauty Diary so much but ever since I tried out Korean masks, I've been hooked... let's cross our fingers and hope it is not for life. LOLX!

One of the biggest manufacturers of facial masks in Korea, iM1NE is here to stay. Hopefully they would be able to find sole distributor within Malaysia and then on, these masks would be available easily.

I couldn't stress enough how wonderful these masks are.

No, I am not paid to write about this although the masks are gifts from my ex-boss. The whole set for a month usage costs about RM40. Well, worth it, right?

If you're wondering why there are small letter printed on the top right side of the packaging - these masks are known as the step-by-step masks.

What you do is - just follow the steps printed on the packaging. These masks promise a more radiant complexion with healthy glow in 15 days but I would say, it depends on your skin.

I really love the texture of the masks!

My next favourite would be the VOV Daily Clinis masks.

It has four functions in one - the retail price for each piece is RM9. I know it's quite expensive but believe me, there are more expensive masks out there!

Next in line is one of the Taiwanese masks. No, it's not from My Beauty Diary but it is from Annie's Way.

It is the Annie's Way Anti Allergy masks in pink packaging - these masks are awesome! The quality is better than My Beauty Diary and best of all, it retails for RM5 to RM7 depending on the functions of the masks.

Vanedo Masks are from Korea and I do like it but not as much as the others.

Where to get these masks - Mask Slim outlets at SS2, Sg. Wang, Times Square, Sunway Pyramid and well... I think they have other outlets elsewhere.

If you are familiar with VOV, do get your hands on these VOV Daily Fresh Masks!

One of the best masks available in the market! The masks actually cover the eye area too so, you're basically killing two birds with one stone. The retail price - RM7.70 per piece. They have more than 10 types for you to choose from. Even the packaging is so pretty and fancy!

Where to get these masks? Easy - go to The Sops Seoul outlets that are located in Publika, Carrefour Midvalley, Stardust Studio Fahrenheit and Lovely Korea Beauty Premium KL Festival City.

Okay, now, it's time for one of the expensive masks - SKII!

This mask retails for RM50 per piece at SKII counters and at Sephora, Malaysia.

I'm not sure how this mask fares because I have yet to use it - I wanna save it for special day or occasion so, I'll just leave it aside first. No, Chinese New Year is no special occasion  hence I am not gonna waste this expensive mask.

Alright, I think that is all for now.

Do share the stories of your favourite masks!

Pink dreams...

As I have forever been mentioning, I am trying to finish up my current products in possession because these products are mountain-ing from time to time even when I do not buy new products!

My main worry is my Etude House Sleeping Mask that remains un-finish-able even though I've been using it every two days consequently for more than 3 months!

This is crazy!!!

The other day, stupid sister bought MBD sleeping mask and she asked me to try it out to compare with my Etude House's mask. I wasn't very enthusiastic about it because I was getting annoyed at having to apply the sticky mask every two nightly.

Well... in the end, I did try it out several time and ended up liking the product more than my Etude House's.

I shall do a comparison of the two products today.

Both products come in pink packaging so, if you're NOT into pink products, you've to stay away from these. LOLX! Actually MBD has 3 different colours for the packaging depending on your main concerns. Stupid sister happened to buy the pink coloured one which is meant for dehydrated skin.

The products inside the packagings are pink as well, if you'd notice.

Etude House's mask looks slightly jellyish because it bobbles around like jelly whereas MBD's mask looks more solid.

As far as scooping goes... it was difficult to scoop Etude House's mask because since the texture is jellyish, the product keeps on falling back into the packaging. After a while, it becomes bothersome, so... no likey. Further more, there is NO scoop provided with the product!

When applied, actually, you can refer to the picture above for slight idea on how the products look like on your skin.

Etude House's mask feels sticky and thick, which some of you may like but not everyone will. Due to the stickiness, you need more product on your skin because a little bit isn't enough.

MBD's mask feels soothing upon application without the stickiness because the product isn't as thick as Etude House's mask - which, for me is good.

Etude House's mask takes longer time to dry up if compared to MBD's mask. So, if you're using Etude House's, you'll feel the sticky sensation for about 3 to 5 minutes before it dries up. MBD's mask on the other hand will dry up quite fast upon application.

Both products smell like flowers!

Anyway, I'm not gonna say one product is better than the other but I still prefer MBD's mask. I don't think I will be purchasing any more of sleeping masks because I do have an extra one in possession.

If you're interested, you can get it from Guardian or Watsons at RM39.90 each for MBD's sleeping mask.

MBD Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser

I know, I know, my blog is almost dead but hey, I am still surviving, despite I've caught the mister going out with another girl behind me. Days of tears and unhappiness have passed or at least I guess those days have to be put behind, else, I'll never advance. We shall talk about this in another entry.

Anyway, reviews and thoughts are still ongoing, it's just that I can't find the time to do since I've been really caught up with lotsa things lately. I'm gonna review the infamous My Beauty Diary Strawberry Amino Acid Cleanser today.

As far as I've announced few weeks back, I've been having really dry skin, especially on my usually-oily t-zone and also expression lines that the skin on those areas started peeling off on it's own. Scary, right? Well, thanks to the best artificial weather in the whole wide word - air-conditioner.

Aside from that, my complexion has also became dull due to insufficient sleep and water intake. Oh, geez, I've been busy, you see... not that I'm slacking off from blogging and also personal and private life but yeah, that was how horrible my skin was.

So, after much contemplation and hesitation, I came to accept I do have combination instead of oily skin because oily skin doesn't peel off on it's own, you see? Hence, I changed my skincare routine and also products.

I was very skeptical over this cleanser in the beginning because you know, I'm that kinda realistic girl that refuses to believe anything cute will work because cuteness is only for presentation purpose.

After using this for the past 3 weeks, hey... my skin has gotten better!

This cleanser is something you should try if you love scooping ice-cream because yeah, the concept is taking from ice-cream scoops.

Basically, a scoop will be included so that you can do the scooping thingy on your own. The smell isn't very strong and that's a minus point for me because I love cleansers with strong scents. I don't know why, it's just me, I guess. It smells of strawberry yogurt, obviously and not overwhelmingly strong.

On the whole, you don't even need to scoop out a lot of product to get foam and best part, not extremely foamy, which is good.

After 3 weeks, oh hey, my skin has really gotten better! Miracle does happen! Hahaha!

~ I can haz clear skin again ~

Picture taken without makeup, okay, so, please don't judge me. Hahaha... I know my dark circles are terrible but what can I do, right?

If you're interested and you don't have oily to combination skin like mine, they have Aloe cleanser, which is green in packaging for dry skin.

Pros
Gentle to the skin and no overwhelmingly strong smell for some of you. Easily found in local drugstores. Cute, of course.

Cons
Scoops! I hate scooping things because it's so inconvenient! If it could be in tube form, it'd be great.

I shall definitely stick to this cleanser for I don't know how long but hopefully they'll have ongoing discount for this product.

Price - RM39.90
Product - 4 out of 5
Packaging - 2 out of 5
Availability - Guardian Pharmacy
Re-purchase - Yes, why not?

My face after makeup is CLEAN!

I've been feeling quite skeptical to show you my new bangs but anyway, never mind, there's nothing to hide.

I digress... Lemme show you some other time since I'm quite a shy person. LOLX! Shall we revert back to our topic of the day?

Yes, my face feels so clean right now, thanks to My Beauty Diary's Peach Soda Makeup Remover!

If you have been following my blog, you would have come across the entry where I blogged about MBD's new range of products known as My Tea Time. Yes, I hauled them all the way home from IBE 2011 at KLCC. I didn't get to try them out straight away because I still had my Sasa and Biore makeup removers to finish.

Finally, yes, finally, I'm done with those makeup removers and officially started using my precious MBD Peach Soda Makeup Remover!

I am nuts about cute, pink packaging and this time around, I have to admit, I've purchased all the PINK coloured products from MBD's My Tea Time! I couldn't restrain myself because I fell in love with the pink makeup remover. Even my Sasa's makeup remover was pink too!

I can assure you that this product is genuine! Well, there are a lot of fake MBD products out there these days, hence you've gotta be extra careful on what you put on your face! Can you see the GENUINE MARK on the bottle? Well, if you can't, go and spot the round, silver sticker on the bottle, that's the genuine mark!

From the look, I thought the makeup remover would be somehow a little oily since you can see the oil floating above the liquid in the bottle. After some shaking businesses, just like any typical makeup remover, somehow or rather, both the liquid and the oil will combine. Boring explanation, I know, I know...

~ Still reluctant to show you my bangs in full face ~

After that, you'll have to open the cap and smell it - LOLX! What can I say about the smell? Hmmm... Although I love products with nice smells, sometimes, I find it difficult to describe the smells though. Lemme try...

*sniffs, sniffs*

It is said on the packaging that it's fragrant free but well... I'd still say there's a little smell though - something like wine but don't worry, not overwhelming or anything.

~ Yes, finally I've decided to show you my bangs on full face ~

I know, redundant statements and pictures but I was just posing with my NAKED face and also the makeup remover.

I'm not sure about you but I use this thing to double clean my face. Double clean means after you've removed your makeup using your makeup remover, you'll use another cleanser or cleansing milk or lotion or another makeup remover that is not oil-based to clean your face again just to make sure there's no makeup left in your pores or anything.

After using this, I do realize, double cleaning with it does work! There were still residues left on my face even though I've removed all the makeup! Shocking but true! Thus, this product completely removed the residues!

Please note that it is said on the packaging that this product is meant for eye and lips but well... I'm good with using it on my face too because I am filthy rich because whatever products like your eye creams or serums that are used on your delicate eye areas can be used over your face but not the other way round.

Then again, I bet with RM49.90 for a makeup remover at only 130ml worth of product, I'll spending that much money to get 2 bottles of my favourite Mandom Makeup Removers!

Price - RM49.90
Product - 3.5 out of 5
Packaging - 4 out of 5
Availability - Guardian
Re-purchase - Probably not because of the steep price for me

Anyway, since I got bored and nothing much to do on a Saturday night, here goes something for you to watch! Yes... again, finally, I'm showing myself LIVE on youtube with my new bangs!

Totally irrelevant and lame, I know. Hahahahaha!

Gotta bunk in, people! Good night and much love!

Are you CLEAN?

Before you jump right into conclusion of what I am about to tell you, first and foremost, please go and brainwash yourself - as in literally, run cold water into your brain to freeze it so that your mind will not wander elsewhere. LOLX!

So, ladies, lemme ask you again, "Are you clean? Are you sure you're REALLY clean?"

I don't know about you but quite some time back, I was reading an article online where they discussed about exfoliation. Yes, no mistake, exfoliation, where you have to exfoliate especially during that time of the month since a lot of dead skin cells will be stuck to you for a week or so.

Eeeww... imagine dead cells on yourself - yucks!

This doesn't apply to your body only, it also applies on your face, in which, it means you have gotta change your skincare routine a bit - exfoliate!

The product I've chosen for exfoliation darn, now you know my dai yee ma is visiting! is Etude House Magic Bubble Peeling.

Reasons are simple. First, I got it at 50% discount and secondly, this thing is really gentle! Ah, it smells like vanilla ice-cream too, in which, I loike!!!

Did I tell you not? I love McD's sundae, so... I love vanilla, hence this thing smells great for me!

Are you wondering if this mousse thingy is gonna work?

Honestly, I was as skeptical as you are when I bought this product but I've decided to give it a try at only RM21. No complain or anything since RM21 is kinda affordable for a pokai student cum part-timer like me.

Okay, now, Imma gonna show you my naked and ugly face - don't tell me I've never shown my naked face to you because I'm a girl without a REAL face since I'm always found with makeup on!

I kinda like the foamy feel on my skin. LOLX! Yes, honestly, it does feel so gentle that I feel like pumping more and more product to slap on my face. Imma lovin' it, no joke and no play-play!

Okay, now comes the end products - the dead skin cells on my naked-makeup-removed-ugly face!

I'm sorry if I eew-ed and yuck-ed you - I was just trying to show you this gentle foamy thing does work in the exfoliation process.

Yes, the girl without a face is exfoliating so that she can look hotter! Hahahahaha! I like the phrase, "the girl without a face."

Personally, for me, as long as a facial product works, I'll continue using and will consider re-buying. I don't complain a lot but perhaps for this product, if it doesn't come at 50% discount, I won't be going back to get it since I'd say exfoliation products that go beyond RM40 is steep.

Price - RM21 after 50% discount
Product - 3.5 out of 5
Packaging - 3 out of 5
Availability - Etude House
Re-purchase - Most probably if there are more sales

So, after exfoliating, here comes one of the most essential regimes in skincare - facial mask!

I am in love with My Beauty Diary masks! All of them smell so, so good, almost edible! LOLX!

So, victim of the day is...

MBD Black Pearl Mask!

I'm not sure but stupid sister told me this mask is meant for whitening and maybe for ageing skin like mine. Okay, I don't age gracefully, at least I am honest.

I love the texture of the mask and comparing this to Etude House's masks that I've used, the essence is slightly thicker and well... it does absorb well, so, don't worry. Close your eyes for a good 15 minutes, sit back and relax - you'll realize absorption is a breeze!

As far as whitening goes, I am not sure since I'm not really into whitening range. I'll let you all know if it works, okies?

Price - RM2.80 since I got it at IBE at RM28 for10 pieces
Product - 3 out of 5
Packaging - 3 out of 5
Availability - Guardian, Watson
Re-purchase - Most probably

I'm done with reviews, hence... here comes photos of the day after exfoliation and of course, facial mask!

Oh, I love this hairstyle. I love how it could just be paired with any outfits and still, you'll never fail to look classy. No, I am not implying I am classy but I am implying that I am elegant! Hahahaha... Yes, I'm blowing my own trumpet so, if you can't stand it, scram as far as you could because I hate pretenders and I hate liars and jerks!

LOLX!!! I just realize my bra straps are peeking through but nevertheless, that isn't a big deal. In this case, just pretend like you don't see it.

** Products are bought using my own moo-lah, I am not sponsored or anything. All opinions are based on my own experience and not biased. Products that work for me may not be working for you. Hence you've gotta try out to know which product is your HG.

My Beauty Diary

Harlow!

I figured out that I'll do this entry since I was at IBE again yesterday to stock up on my My Beauty Diary Masks. Well, can't blame me, I'm using masks like crazy these days - signs of ageing and it isn't good since I didn't take care of my skin when I was younger. Hence, masks are just like essentials in my skincare routine these days.

So, lemme repeat, I was at IBE 2011 again after my visit there last Friday - yes, crazy and I know it. King of Masks, the local official distributor of MBD Masks in Malaysia.

Well, I hauled again! LOLX! Like how can you even resist a great deal that comes at only RM149 with 3 of their newest products and thereafter you can buy unlimited MBD Masks at only RM28 per pack of 10. Great deal, right? Well, hell yeah, considering each pack of 10 is sold around RM39.90 to RM59.90 at Guardian or Watson!

If you are a fan of MBD Masks like me, I'm sure you've heard about MBD, launching their newest products known as My Teatime.

I went delirious when I saw the cuteness of the packaging that my feet were frozen at their booth during IBE 2011 for a good one hour or so, trying to digest all the information and goodness of their products. Plus, the promoter was kind enough to let us try everything and then again, she remembers us from last Friday!

So, they've released their newest products which include cleanser, scrub, makeup remover and also two different types of facial masks!

Here is a picture of their cleansers!

I know, I know, they're just so, so, so cute, awww... and you know how anal I am about cute packaging! Their newest theme is ice-cream inspired, hence, the first thing that came across my mind when I saw these cute cleansers was, "Aww... Ice-cream! I've gotta have those in my skincare routine!"

If you're like me, having oily to combination skin and perhaps, enlarged pores, you can try out Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser, which has the pink packaging. If you have dry to combination and also sensitive skin, Aloe Amino Acid Cleanser works best for you!

You don't have to worry about hygiene problem since spatula is included in each packaging! Just promise you don't dig your fingers into the cleanser after digging your nose, that's good enough. LOLX! Sorry for the lame joke.

I've tried it and gosh, my skin felt so, so smooth after using it, comparing to my current facial cleanser.

Other than cleanser, make sure you try out their scrub and also makeup remover!

The name of their makeup remover is somehow unique too - Peach Soda Makeup Remover. So, have you ever tried any drink with the combination of peach and soda? If you have, then, this makeup remover smells just like that! I'm not sure about the effectiveness of this makeup remover since I have yet to finish my current makeup removers! Until I'm done with all the existing products, only then, I am allowed to use the new ones!

Craving for scrubs but your skin is just too sensitive? Well, try MBD's Vanilla Souffle Face Scrub. Best of all, unlike the typical scrubs you can find in drugstores, salons or hypermarkets, this scrub is super gentle!

I remember the moment when the friendly promoter applied the mousse onto my back of my hand, I was thinking, "OMG... as if something as gentle as mousse is gonna work to wash away the dead skin!"

After applying you've gotta wait for a while and then, scrub again and pooooff, just like magic, the dead skin will appear! I took back my skepticism! This product actually works and best of all, it's gentleness on your skin!

Yes, read it again, the scrub comes in mousse form, just like whipped cream!

Next up in the list of MBD new products is the mask! Oh... MBD launched two new facial masks if you're not aware of it!

Earl Grey Tea and Macaroon Sheet Mask together with Chocolate Truffle Sheet Mask!

OMG... ain't the packaging so cute you can die and go to heaven?!

Sad but these masks are not sold separately. So, in order for us to get a piece of each, we have gotta purchase the Sweet Teatime Mini Set that retails for RM20 when you've purchased RM150 worth of products from MBD during IBE 2011.

Bad news, these sets are not sold separately too if you don't make any purchase.

But don't worry about thinking RM20 is hell lotsa money because other than the 2 new masks, you can get mini sized facial cleanser and also scrub in the set. Hence, 4 items for only RM20, what is there left to grumble about, right?

Earl Grey Tea and Macaroon Mask functions best for brightening and also whitening while Chocolate Truffle Mask works best for those who need firming.

If you're wondering about the prices of these products, here you go...

Amino Acid Cleanser - RM39.90

Vanilla Souffle Scrub - RM69.90

Peach Soda Makeup Remover - RM39.90

Please don't quote me if the prices I've seen during IBE 2011 are different from those you are going to see in Guardian or Watson since these products have yet to be launched in our local drugstores. From what I know, once these products are in market already, prices will be increased a little. Hence, if you've missed out on these star products this time, you can always look forward to it in the next IBE, probably in October or so.

Okay, that's the end of MBD new products. Hence, now, Imma gonna rant about how to differentiate between the original and fake MBD masks. I know a lot of beauty bloggers rant about it but honestly, this is my own version and the promoter did assist me in advising how to differentiate them too!

First, putting them side by side.

Hmmm... maybe you can't differentiate much if I don't put the labels there and if you're first timer in using MBD masks, right?

Anyway, read on...

It can be clearly seen from the pictures above that the opening of the original mask packaging is approximately 1cm or less from the top but for the fake mask, the opening is placed much lower downwards comparing to the original mask.

Aside from that, keep an eye on the imprinted dates!

For the original MBD mask, imprinted date on the back of the packaging can also be seen from the front packaging since the date is printed using hot iron.

Even when it comes to sealing the packaging, the sealing of the original mask from the picture is even comparing to the uneven seal of the fake mask.

Have you tried the scratching test?

If you haven't, take a look at the pictures below...

Well, I talked about imprinted dates, right? For the original mask, yes, the date is printed using hot iron, hence, that is the reason why the numbers show up on the front packaging. If you try scratching the date, it won't come off but for the fake mask, upon scratching, the printed date comes off, leaving stain on your nails!

Erm... if you'd ask me about the texture of the masks, I'm not sure since I didn't open up the masks - I'm just too lazy these days!

Anyway, that would be all for this entry since I'm feeling a little sleepy at McDonald's Kelana Jaya at 12pm. Signing out soon and have a wonderful Wednesday while I'll get my nap, wake up around 5pm and go to work around 6pm!

International Beauty Expo 2011

So, I spent the entire day at KL International Beauty Expo 2011 at KLCC for the whole of yesterday. Thus, I spent quite a lot - there goes my salary for this month!

Honestly, that wasn't my intention - I was planning to go to Kinokuniya to get a book but it just so happened that I saw this IBE 2011 banner being hung somewhere nearby KLCC and I was a little excited to be honest.

Hence, I kinda ran to the convention center and little did I expect I'd end up carrying so many stuffs back home - typically and uniquely me!

So, here are pictures of hauls of the day!

If you don't know yet, Essence has made it into Malaysia's market via CociCoci. If I'm not mistaken, their products retail at around USD$2.99 and above. Quite affordable, right? So, you can all scream your lungs out because their makeup and skincare products retail around RM10 to RM30. I was lucky that I went to IBE because these products will only be officially launched in June 2011, price will be increased as I was told.

The haul from CociCoci didn't even cost me more than RM70 actually. I was eyeing their new eyeshadow primer but then again, the new collection with the eyeshadow primer will only be launched in June too.

Stupid sister went nuts when she saw Tsubasa's eyelashes.

Buy one for RM55, buy two for only RM95 - you tell me, is it worth it or not? Some more, we were given a lot of samples to try out. A lot of the makeup products from the booth were being sold at 50% discount!

So, for girls who are eyeling My Beauty Diary products, well... they've finally launched their new skincare products - ice-cream inspired facial cleanser and mousse inspired facial scrub!

What can I say? They have one of the most unique ideas ever! Their products smell wonderful. Hahahahaha... now you know why we hauled like crazy after knowing that with the purchase of RM150 and above, we are entitled to purchase unlimited facial masks for only RM28. Normal prices range from RM39.90 to RM49.90 during IBE 2011.

What are you waiting for, girls?

If you're eyeing deals after deals, head to IBE 2011 at KLCC since 17th May 2011 is the last day of the expo!

I'm thinking of going back there to grab certain products too! If you bump into me, do come and say 'hi' because yes, I am friendly! LOLX!

Oh, ya... I did manage to get my book from Kinokuniya! Hahaha... Spent RM39.90 on it and I'm so broke now!

Have a great week ahead!
