Taking care of your eyelash extension

I was staring into the mirror this morning while I did my make-up and suddenly, I realized something...

As much as I don't really like the feeling of having eyelash extension on, now, I am missing the once long and thick eyelashes.

I guess I just couldn't make up my mind whether or not I should go for my eyelash extension again. You can read about my experience here and here. I've been to several good ones and few bad ones. Believe me, you wouldn't wanna go as-cheap-as-possible because the quality sucks to the point the extension would be coming off in less than a week!

Personally, I think eyelash extension for myself is addictive - just because my typical Asian eyelashes can barely be seen and I want them to show. So, if you are considering to get eyelash extension, I can't tell you where to go but I can share with you some do's and don't's and also how to take care of them.

Do your research
Don't just go to that particular salon just because someone tells you that it's good. Go and google the salon if possible.

Materials
You don't get to choose what kinda glue they use but you get to choose the length (S, M, L) and thickness of your eyelashes. If you're going for natural look, go for S and M. If you're thinking about drama, go for M and L.

Itchiness
After the extension has been put on, despite being itchy, do not go and scratch your eyes. Try not to touch the extension too much to avoid no lasting extension. It will take a few days for you to get used to the feeling of having something stuck onto your real eyelashes.

Facial time
This is the toughest part ever! When you're washing your face, please make sure the water does not touch your eyes. It pretty much means, don't use any liquid on the eye areas else the extension will come off sooner than expected. If you must, please use a cotton bud. Usually, I would take around 3 to 5 minutes to wash my face but when I have my extension on, I would need to spend probably 7 to 10 minutes on my face. Beauty does not come easily.

Make-up
I love my eyeliners and mascara. One thing to bear in mind - since you are advised to not to use any liquid product especially on the extension, you have to avoid using eye make-up as well because at the end of the day, you would need to remove your make-up using a make-up remover. Naturally, the oil in the make-up remover will decrease the longevity of the glue. If you must, use cotton buds to remove the make-up and choose a make-up remover that contains a very low level of oil. As for mascara, since your extension is good enough, you can skip this.... Keep your falsies too because you'll ruin your extension once you take off your falsies - don't waste your money and effort.

Sleeping posture
Lemme tell you - I have the worst sleeping posture ever. I love to put a pillow on my face when I sleep and this habit really ruins my extension. The extension is supposed to face upwards but due to the weight I put on my face when I sleep, the extension faced downwards =.=" Please bear in mind not to turn your face around while you are sleeping because any movement against something might change the shape of the extension. Ladies, you've gotta be a lady!

Glasses
If you are wearing glasses, once you have your extension on, you can consider switching to lenses because the extension is going to hit your glasses no matter what. So, get your lenses ready!

Removing eyelash extension
Contrary to the belief that if you soak your extension with oil, it will come off. Believe me, it won't. You'll end up tugging at your real lashes and risk them falling off. If you really want to remove it, please let the professionals do it because any attempt to do it at home unprofessionally will lead to lesser real lashes. Do not pull the extension off even if you notice it start to peel off already. Let it fall naturally once the glue is no longer effective. I know you're gonna look weird but believe me, it's better to look weird than to lose your real lashes.

Well... those are pretty much what I think I know about eyelash extension. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I'll be more than happy to help.

Happy Friday, folks!

Eyelash extension at Nails Garden

As the matter of fact, I don't like people making remarks at my typical short and sparse natural eyelashes even though I do realize my eyelashes can be barely seen with naked eyes. I actually hate rude remarks!

Sometimes, even mascaras wouldn't help no matter how many coats I apply. It gets pretty irritating after a while that I thought to myself that I wanna go and get eyelash extension done!

No, I am not a eyelash extension virgin.

I had my virgin experience about two years ago at Nails De Beauty at The Strand, Kota Damansara. At that point of time, I wasn't used to having semi-permanent eyelashes on me that I didn't know how to take good care of it - still, I kept the extension for about two weeks before they started to fall off on their own. The experience was fine because I didn't feel the false eyelashes poking my eyes.

Then, I went for my second eyelash extension in July last year before my BFF's wedding. The experience at the beauty salon was okay but I think the person who did my eyelashes wasn't professional enough that they eyelashes kept on poking my eyes. I went back to get a touch-up and luckily they didn't charge me or else I'd have made a scene there! Furthermore, the extension didn't even last for five days! Yeah, it started to come off on the third or fourth day! FML! I was guessing their glue sucks but nevertheless, I won't be going back there ever again even if it's for free!

So, this time around, I went for my third eyelash extension at Nails Garden @ e-curve.

The outlet doesn't look at all very posh or anything but the experience was good. The person who did my extension, Fion, was very professional. The whole process took about 30 minutes and she mixed and matched the lengths of the false eyelashes so that I could get a very natural look!

I wanted to go for the longest false eyelashes but she was worried that my original eyelashes might not be able to withhold the weight of the false eyelashes since you know, my lashes are barely noticeable in real life!

All in all, I was quite pleased with the result and honestly, if you would want to know, Fion did a wonderful job because the eyelashes are so lightweight that I couldn't feel anything at all! I didn't even feel it poking or anything like that.

In real life, it looked very, very natural!

It was so natural that people thought those lashes were the

The result after make-up - fantastic!

I didn't even need to apply eyeshadow or eyeliner because with the extension, my eyes just sparkled!

Hahahaha... sounds too good to be true but yeah, minimal make-up exception for foundation or BB cream, blush, bronzer and eyebrow pencil.

Honestly, for the extension this time, it lasted for about a week because I had been having a really stressed week due to my work and also personal matters, hence, I had been crying and rubbing my eyes.

On taking care of your eyelash extension - rule number one - keep your extension away from water. Well, it basically means avoid water from wetting your glue and eyelash extension at all means. Water somehow would melt off the glue on long run.

Now, you know why the eyelash extension only lasted about a week on me.

I guess for each extension, it would probably last for about two weeks to one month.

I can haz crazy eyelashes!

After craving and craving for eyelash extension for years, finally, I've gotten my lashes done yesterday! Yes, finally!

Thank you Groupon Malaysia and also Nails de Beauty for such a wonderful offer!

I was so worried that I might not be able to locate Nails de Beauty since I'm not so sure of places around Kota Damansara. Noob me with my nooby driving skills with my nooby sense of directions but luckily, thanks to Daniel that I didn't get lost and managed to find the location of Nails de Beauty in few minutes! He's such a great human GPS! LOLX!

My appointment was at 10am but I got there early.

I was too ecstatic to take any pictures of the outlet because I was too busy watching the TVB drama being played and also feeling excited about the whole new experience.

So, within minutes, I was ushered into a room for my eyelash extension - owh, that was fast!

I was supposed to meet Dewgem but I didn't make it since I got there earlier and my session started earlier and when Dewgem's session started, I was leaving already. She was in another room. Awww... missed catching up with her!

Anyway, on the whole, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I didn't know which lashes to choose from since it was my first eyelash extension and one of the staff advised me on that. I was so glad I went to S sized lashes instead of M sized ones.

The whole process took about 45 minutes to an hour, according to my sister who went there with me.

But it was worth it! Me likey!

Well, aherm... sad to say but my original eyelashes are so short that even with coats and coats of mascaras, they only do a LITTLE justice and thank you to eyelash extension that I have gorgeous eyelashes now!

I wouldn't say having these lashes on feel comfortable because this is my first trial and honestly, the lashes block a little of my vision on the first day but today, everything is good. Well, it's a little uncomfortable but nevertheless, for a lazy bum like me who doesn't really like applying false lashes, eyelash extension is great!

Funny thing is when I showed Vern pictures of my new extension, he told me, "Owh, you have thicker eyebrow now?"

I laughed and laughed while looking at the picture I sent him. I didn't even shape my eyebrows or anything! LOLX!

With the extension on, I do realize I don't even need eyeliners or eyeshadows to beautify my eyes because these eyelashes totally stand out! My eyes look so much bigger and rounder that I'm completely in love with it!

Thank you again, Nail de Beauty - for your wonderful service and friendliness!

Hence, if you're interested, head over to the outlet and find out on your own!

Further more, after I've seen Mimi with her gorgeous eyelash extension, the thought stirred me up for quite some time that I have to go and get my non-noticeable Asian eyelashes extended!

No, it's not that I don't like my existing eyelashes, it's just that these eyelashes are super short and there are times when I'm so damn lazy to apply mascara or even to stick false eyelashes. I do have like 5 to 6 boxes full of false eyelashes but, you know me, lazy!
