ELF HD Blush is definitely going to make you blush!

Most of the time, I don't find myself splurging on HD make-ups because my working environment does not require me to even wear make-up unless I am helping the marketing team to meet our potential clients.

For those of you who are new to make-up, HD simply means better coverage and better colour without using a lot of products. Most of the HD cosmetics are made of finer particles and hence the camera won't be able to catch it on pictures - which is really great if you're attending events.

Anyway, when I first came across Make-Up Forever counter about a year ago, the first thing that struck my interest - Make-Up Forever HD Blush!

I was so tempted to purchase one of them but I guess my conscience got hold of me because I had so many unused blushes in my possession. I let it pass.

A year later, when I was checking out some products at Sephora, I got a good look at the HD blushes and managed to try out all of them!

Again, I was so tempted to buy it but I held on to my conscience of not wanting to buy any because it was a little pricey at about RM80. When I checked back on the price tag at Sephora last March, I think the price has increased! Geez... Even the HD Foundation is priced at RM174 instead of RM169 now.

When I got to know that ELF has released similar blushes, I snapped at the chance and placed my orders immediately because I've read quite a number of pleasant reviews about them! Plus, the packaging and certain shades look quite similar to Make-Up Forever's.

Did I tell you not? Hahaha! Thank you, ELF for these blushes because I love them!

My ELF orders came about 2 months later and I was so, so excited to try out the blushes!

The boxes are nothing to shout about - just your typical paper boxes with the names of the shades printed on them. I purchased two different shades - Headliner and Superstar.

I guess ELF used the inspiration from Hollywood superstars for the names of the blushes.

As far as the packaging goes, it looks exactly like Make-Up Forever's HD Blush's. It's plastic but I don't think it looks cheap though. ELF could have done better with the fonts and graphics but with USD$3 each, what is there to complain, right?

I am so glad that the HD blushes come with pumps because I get irritated when the products don't come with squeeze-tubes or pumps.

True enough pumps are really friendly to work with but be extra careful because one pump can definitely be too much because these blushes are very, very pigmented that it's almost crazy to work with! Therefore, while you are pumping out the product, you can afford to be stingy :) a little does go a long, long way!

If you are using the product for the first time, be sure to shake it real well or else, you'll notice some oil being pumped out of the product.

Of course you can always opt to use the blush with your fingers but I wouldn't recommend so because if the blush stains your fingers, it'd be really difficult to remove! I would advise you to use your stippling or any blush brush for application. I am not sure if it is just me - although these blushes are quite creamy, they tend to dry very fast upon application hence, I always have to speed up the application process.

All in all, I really like the two shades I have gotten because they are beautiful be it in the bottle or once you apply them on your cheeks! However, I have to try to warn you, these blushes tend to be quite difficult to blend because once the brush with the product touches your cheek, the pigmentation will be gathered on the same spot. You would really need a fast hand to work with these blushes! Once blended out, they look very natural!

If I were to describe each of the shade, I would say Headliner is a cool pink while Superstar is a coral colour. I am not sure what kind of finish they have because they look glossy on the back of my hand but matte on my cheeks.

One thing that really intrigue me is these blushes are quite waterproof when I tested them on the back of my hand. Even after 5 hours and taking a warm shower, the colours can still be seen!

One weird thing that I do notice - the blushes do not last that long on my cheeks! I don't know why but whatever that is for USD$3, I have no complain.

In fact, I even thought about getting the rest of the 3 shades but I guess they'll be too dark for me!

Have you try out the ELF HD Blush?

ELF Studio Blushes

The thing I love about LYN is that you can always get branded or non-branded products at considerably cheap prices - hey, what is not to love when you can get MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow for around RM50++ when the original price ranges from around RM80 to RM110, right?

Well, I won't be talking about MAC or anything since the title of this entry as being seen is about ELF Studio Blushes. I got them for RM10 for both and RM10 is inclusive of FREE postage. So, isn't it worth it?

Initially I was lemming towards Peachy Keen but instead, I got Candid Coral and Mellow Mauve. Well, let's see if Peachy Keen will cross path with me or not, shall we?

So, let's take a look at Mellow Mauve and Candid Coral as of now.

~ ELF Studio Blush in Mellow Mauve ~

~ ELF Studio Blush in Candid Coral ~

They look promising because my initial impression was that they could be really pigmented but I was a little wrong. Well, not really very wrong, just a little.

~ Mellow Mauve, Candid Coral ~

Well, I love Candid Coral! It's VERY pigmented and probably you'll need around 2 applications.

On the other hand, Mellow Mauve is a little disappointing - really! I swatched once on the back on my hand and guess what? No colour appeared. I applied second layer - still, no colour payoff. I was mad, so, I applied like 4 to 5 layers, only then, the colour shown up.

The colours look similar but honestly, they're not.

Candid Coral as the name would suggested, is a little towards coral-y or orangey colour with a little bit of shimmer in it. This shade is truly beautiful and you should get this one!

Mellow Mauve is something a little bit towards pinkish undertones but still, I don't know why from the swatch of it, it looks a little orangey.

Actually I had a thought that Candid Coral is similar to Milani's Luminous but...

Luminous does look a bit pinkish comparing to Candid Coral... Don't you think so?

As of pigmentation, of course Luminous is way over Candid Coral. Well, ELF Studio Blushes retail for USD$3 each but Milani Blushes retail for USD$5.99 each. So... I can't complain. I'll use these as my everyday blushes!

Battle of Eyeliners

I've been contemplating to post this entry for quite some time already. Yeah, I'm a procrastinator and the thief of time, hence it explains why this entry has never been posted for like... hmmm... 2 months?

Anyway... again, I'm anal about blushers but I hate it when my eyeliners smudges and transfer themselves onto my lower lids. In worse case of transference, I end up looking like a sleep-deprived person or better known as panda-eye effect.

I hate it when I'm not aware that these liners came off - uh... isn't that annoying?

By the way, I love my hair today, it looks so straight and nice, don't you think so too? LOLX! I didn't straighten or anything, just brush through my hair and let it air-dried before putting on some serum from d' Hair Shop.

~ Look, it's me with my NAKED face! ~

If you don't know yet, I love hair care products from d' Hair Shop but alas, d' Hair Shop is only available for purchase if you're staying somewhere nearby KL since the outlets are only available at Pavilion and also Midvalley.

Okay, enough of hair ramblings!

We're going into the highlight of today - eyeliners!

As the matter of fact, I collect eyeliners as much as I collect blushers. Hahaha... anal, anal, anal, anal about eyeliners too!

So, lemme just go through the eyeliners one by one and what are my thoughts regarding the products.

Solone Magic Waterproof Eye Pencil

Solone is not a very well-known brand, I'd say. I came across a forumer in LYN selling this and my initial thought was, "Gosh, these pencils look promising!" Further more, it's stated that they're waterproof!

I had these since 2 weeks ago and been using them on everyday basis just to try out their claimed waterproof-ity and smudgeproof-ity. LOLX!

Basically, the picture you're seeing below, on the left, there are swatches of the shades I own while on your right, that will be what happened after I rubbed and rubbed them really hard.

It smeared off a bit after being rubbed and honestly, I don't think this is a bad eyeliner. I did not try rubbing under running water because honestly, hey, how often do you cry having eyeliner on? Of course, exception if you boyfriend proposes to you and stuffs like that?

The black eyeliner seems more solid and long-lasting if being compared to purple eyeliner. You've gotta decide on your own from the picture above.

One thing that really disturbs me is that this eyeliner CANNOT be applied onto your waterline because, it just wouldn't go on no matter how hard I tried!

I guess waterproof-ity for this eyeliner is totally a fail!

Total score - 3 out of 5 stars!

Stila Kajal Eye Liner

Okay, Stila Kajal Eye Liner is a very much sought after products for youtube gurus. I thought it'd perform amazingly on me as well but alas, this eyeliner is my least favourite if compared to others.

It smudges like no tomorrow. This is worse than UD 24/7 and I always end up looking like a dead panda! FML! I hate this eyeliner!

Luckily I didn't get it in full size or else Imma gonna regret full-time, having to spend so much on a product that doesn't work on me! As for pigmentation, this is heavenly because it's so pigmented that you cannot imagine how pigmented it is!

Hey, I paid RM25 for the travel-sized product, okay? It's NOT cheap considering it's only a mini version!

The tip is so soft that it becomes very, very annoying because you can't get precise line with this product. Further more, right after lining your eyes, this product gets a little clumpy and start falling on my cheeks. Then, when I try to blur out the edges, it sticks to my fingers like EVERYTIME!!!

I've had enough of this eyeliner and WILL NEVER purchase it again ever!

Total score - 1 out of 5 - horrible!

Physicians Formula Gel Liner

I'm too lazy to type the full name of this product as the name alone is too long! You should google it up if you're interested.

This is my first gel liner. I was hooked to it ever since I got it because it does glide on smoothly for a gel liner and it doesn't get clumpy too. The brush is easy to use and I love it! The colours are hella pigmented. If you don't believe me, try googling it up somewhere, you'll love the colours!

Exception for the brown liner, black and purple are the most solid colours. They only wear off a little upon rough rubbing and so. I did try rubbing them under running water. It smudges a little but not much.

If you're thinking of applying this on your waterline, yeah, it works pretty well on my waterline - minimal smudging!

Total score - 4 out of 5 stars - go and get this now!

Kate Super Sharp Liner

This is seriously my best liquid eyeliner ever, ever, ever and I swear, I will never doubt it or change to another liquid eyeliner!

Hey, this is good stuff, hence, I should share with you all!

The tip of the brush is super sharp, hence, it explains why I can always get the line as precise as I want it to be. You can never be wrong with precise lines! You get FULL control of the lines you're about to create, now how good can it get?

The lasting power is SUPER impressive, okay?!

I applied it in the morning during CNY and when I was removing it around 10pm or so, it still sat still! No smudges or anything! Even water CANNOT remove this eyeliner. You've to use oil-based makeup remover!

How can you not love a splendid product this this eyeliner?

Total score - 5 out of 5 - go and get this already!

ELF Shimmer Pencil

I was very skeptical about purchasing this product initially but I bought four of them in the end to test out.

I can't say I'm in love with them but they have their strengths and weaknesses.

The things I don't like about these liners are that they're NOT smudge or water proof. But at least they're not as messy as Stila Kajal Eyeliner. Then again, I don't fancy the packaging. ELF should have included a fully-covered cap instead their current packaging. The product will get dried out very fast with their current packaging!

Me don't likey!

You can't use these liners on your waterline but you can always use them on your lower lashline, right? You can't do it with Stila Kajal Eyeliner because it'll get really, really messy that you might as well remove your whole makeup!

The liner glides on REALLY SMOOTHLY and it's very, very pigmented!

Total score - 2 out of 5!

Stage Eye Liner

I tried Stage's eyeliner on my waterline, without hoping it'd last so long. I went to Stage Cosmetics and applied it on my waterline to test it out around 12pm and when I got home around 8 hours later, to my horrific happiness, it was still there!

So, the next day, I rushed to Stage as soon as the outlet was opened and bought 2 of these!

They're not exactly smudge proof but they're waterproof, alright? This is byfar my best pencil eyeliner! I'm super in love with their eyeliners that I told stupid sister about it. Thus, she ended up purchasing 3 of them!

Total score - 4.5 out 5 - go and get it now!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

Well... as much as this product has created hypes in youtube and also the beauty communities across the world, I'm not really in love with it. Remember, I'm anal about eyeliners too, okay?

This might not be UD's best product but UD does have another best products like UDPP and their eyeshadows.

Yes, you can apply this product on your waterline but it doesn't stay put for more than an hour or so for me. Hence, it gets annoying even though it doesn't transfer to my lower lids or anything. But still, it's way better than Stila Kajal Eyeliner. Sorry, Stila, me don't love your Kajal Eyeliner.

Total score - 3.5 out of 5!

That marks the end of my eyeliners' story. If you were to ask me to make a list of which eyeliners to get, I'll only choose 3 from each category - liquid, pencil and gel.
  1. Kate Super Sharp Liquid Eyeliner - probably around RM39.90
  2. Stage Pencil Eyeliner - RM45
  3. Physicians Formula Gel Liner - RM35 or USD$10.99
So, what are your favourite eyeliners?

Oh, oh, oh... since I'm very much in love with Stage Pencil Eyeliners, I grabbed the opportunity to purchase their lip liners too!

I don't know about you but these are pure loves! I applied this as base for my lipsticks and lipglosses and after jumping around, eating, drinking and aherm, kissing the wall, the lip liner was still in tact!!!

Yeah, the lipsticks and lipglosses wore off but the lipliners were still there!

Isn't it amazing?

Hahahaha... I'm trying to promote Stage but don't worry, I don't get paid to review.

Anyway... here's the haul of the day at Watsons and Daiso.

I need to ban myself from shopping once again but... hey... shopping is a girl's best friend, especially if you've been down, like me, right?

Goodies, goodies!

I've been going in and out or Stage so much that I think all the BCs there know me so well. Hahaha... Let's say I'm getting more famous there.

Hauled few items there - again.

No, not for me! Hauled for mum, sister and friends.

So, now, time to show you what I have!

I might be going back there for the last time to get few other things before sales end on 28th of this month. So, if you're lemming towards their goodies, head to your nearest outlet now! The RM18 bonanza is gonna end soon!

If you're Stage virgin and you don't know what you should get there. Here's my list!

1. Liquid Foundation - be it Photo Pro or Picture Perfect, just any one of them!

2. Concealer Jar - they are great for covering up dark circles!

3. Eyeliner Pencil - waterproof, alright?

4. Wonderlust Lipstick - super moisturizing and nice selection of colours!

5. Glitter Liner - I love the wand and also the brush!

Other than those things, you may want to pass. Well, those are just my opinions. You can get the whole collection if you want. No harm. Stage's products are great to work with but I'm not really into single eyeshadows, so, not much comments on them.

So, let's see... I'll be getting probably their glitter eyeliner, their concealer and also their foundation before the sales end.

By the way, just so you don't know... I'm lemming towards these items too. Hopefully they are still available by the time sprees are opened!

The bigger palette retails for USD$10 while the smaller one retails for USD$5. I want the smaller one actually! LOLX!

Collective haul and updates

Update 1

I'm finally done with my Chapter 1, 2 and 3 of my thesis, submitted them and now, working hard to gather data so that I'll be able to graduate by this semester. Please pray for me, people that I'll be doing good!

I gotta submit few forms next week, so, please, please, dear God, please let everything goes well and smoothly for me.

Update 2

CNY holidays are coming to an end already hence, I'll be flying back to KL tonight and thus, my sucky life begins from tomorrow onwards - no more of home's warmth and comfort until the next time I'll be coming home again but, when?

Update 3

Gahhh... Post CNY weight gain is traumatizing me! Yes, I've gained 2 to 3kg during CNY and I need to shed these weights off or else I'll look like a pig in heat! I hate weight gains! If I'm born with a body to die for, I won't be needing to diet but unfortunately, I'm someone who gains weight easily. FML!

Update 4

This time around, I'm feeling very emotional. Pre-home-leaving feeling, plus after getting news after news that more and more friends are either getting engaged or married. It scares the hell out of me that I'm not getting any younger and that people have started asking, "Where is your boyfriend? I don't believe you're still a single!"

I'm going to shut all the windows and door so that nobody could come anywhere near me to throw those kinda questions or statements at me!

Hey, I still considered myself, young, okay?!

# # # # #

Done with updates and now, comes the real stuffs!

Now, tell me, which one of girls out there that is NOT interested in shopping? Of course with the condition that you can afford to shop. Well... if you can't afford to shop all the times like those rich ones, there always are SALES!

Sales' time is the best time to stock up your stuffs and I mean it!

Well, other than sales, there is always another alternative for you to get cheaper stuffs, provided you have friends outstation. Ah, I'm counting my blessings! A friend of mine brought back few stuffs from taobao, China for me and guess what? All these don't even exceed RM80!!!

Yes, earrings and hair clips! I love earrings and there is no mistake about it! The collection looks so pretty hanging in my room right now! Imma gonna bring all these to KL with me later!

Other than these earrings, I've decided to try out other beauty related products from Shills. If you don't know, Shills is Taiwanese brand. They have skincare, beauty and other products! I've been setting my eyes on the Miss Perfect Pore Balm and also Pore Hide and Heal Cream. I'm totally sold to cute packagings!

I wanted Benefit's Dr. Feelgood initially but afterwards, I changed my mind after getting a friend's review that it might feel oily on oily-combination skin like mine. Plus, the price of Dr. Feelgood wards me off!

Hence, I bought 2 Pore Hide and Heal Cream with 1 Miss Perfect Pore Balm. Up to this point of time, I have NOT regretted getting them because they're awesome!

This stuff is GREAT, I tell you, it is GREAT. I should have buy more than just 2. I should stock up while I can!

I have yet to try out this thing, hence shall talk about both of them in later entry!

The last thing from taobao is this...

Well, this balm smells like... strawberry! Hahaha... It's strawberry lip balm, alright, what do you expect?!

I have also gotten my parcels from Cherry Culture and NYX Cosmetics hauls finally, after waiting for 2 months or so!

This time around, I've gotten more lip glosses than other products - I'm such a b*tch! LOLX! I love lip glosses!

For the price of RM8++ for this LA Colors lip gloss, this colour is gorgeous even though it is not as pigmented as other products.

Oh, I did get a jar of NYX Lip Lacquer Pot in Sweet Pea!

I love this baby and I'll be considering to get more of the same products but different shades once I'm done with this one - very pigmented and two thumbs up!

Last but not least... more glitters!

NYX Glitter Cream Palette in Bronze Goddess. Oh... if you don't know, I love glitters nowadays. I don't know what have gotten into me but yeah... I adore glitters these days!

Words cannot describe how gorgeous and beautiful this palette is!

Best of all, all NYX products are bought at 50% discount!

Products from ELF Makeup and Cosmetics came just recently as well! Spree was crazy because everything was offered at 50% discount. That means, if the item was USD$1, after discount, it was USD$0.50 only! How can you resist this temptation?

After craving for ELF's new shimmer pencils, I've finally gotten 4 of them!

Then, there are more brushes!

My very first stippling brush and also another powder blush that works great as stippling brush. LOLX! I contradict myself!

I love these brushes so, so much. Honestly, I love majority of ELF brushes! They all work fine even though they are a buck each only!

Final two products from ELF...

Last but not least... haul from Stage Cosmetics - RM18 each!

My best buy from Stage Cosmetics - eyelash curler!

I thought of wanting to get Shu Uemura's eyelash curler but since the price is at hefty RM68 or more... I've decided to skip it and be satisfied for Stage's because I read reviews that this thing works better for Asian eyelashes!

Well, it came out as one of the best buys in 2010 in Women's Weekly and best of all at only RM35 only!

As of now, I gotta go and resume packing for my trip back to KL.

Goodbye home and hello, KL!

Oh, before that... one last picture of the un-vain version of me!

No makeup, no whatsoever and in my pajamas! LOLX! Yes, I was holding my friend's bridal bouquet, hence it means, it's my turn to get married next year!

CIAO!
